Whey
Protein Isolate Supplements Showdown - (Part 3)
Comparing AST VP2 Whey Isolate, EAS Precision
Protein, Prolab Protein Isolate, and Nature's Best Zero
Carb Isopure
In part 3 of our extensive comparison,
we'll take a look at four of the top whey protein isolate
supplements. You'll notice that these whey isolate powders
cost roughly the same as whey
protein concentrate powders in part 2, but the amount
you get is less than half of what you'd get with the whey
concentrates. Why does whey isolate cost so much more? Because
processing whey isolate costs much more than concentrate,
the manufacturers has to charge higher accordingly to maintain
a profit margin.
You're probably wondering: "well,
is it worth my extra money to buy whey isolate powders?"
It's tough to say really... If you ask for my personal opinion,
I'd have to say no. I've tried most of these, and I can't
really say I notice much if any difference at all between
whey protein isolate and whey concentrate powders.
On the other hand, I know of some individuals
who swears by higher quality whey Isolate. Ultimately, it
comes down to quantity vs. quality. Again, like I mentioned,
I didn't notice much extra benefits from paying the extra
bucks, so I stick with just whey concentrates.
Category 2: What's The Best Valued Whey
Protein Isolate: EAS Precision Protein, AST VP2 Whey, Prolab
Whey Isolate and Zero Carb Isopure.

CPS - cost
per serving
CPGP - cost per gram of protein
(You can view the entire Excel
file with more detailed info on each here.)
I kinda got the sorting order messed up...
;-) Anyways, as you can see, Zero Carb Isopure is the winner
here for CPGP, beating out 2nd place EAS Precision Protein
by almost a whole penny per gram of protein. ;-) Although
Zero Carb Isopure has by far the highest CPS, but if you
compare the amount of protein it provides, Isopure has double
the amount proteins than the other three.
Of the remaining there, there isn't much
to speak of; however, I should point out that I've had much
more feedback on AST's VP2 than any other whey isolated
compared, and all the feedback I had on VP2 is very good.
So, if you have the extra cash to spend,
I'd go with either Zero Carb Isopure or AST VP2 whey isolate.
