Gaining Weight Program and Guide

Bodybuilding Supplements Used - Natural Testosterone Support (Part 3)

We covered ATP support (creatine and ribose) in the last part, and now we continue with 2 key supplements that make a very effective stack for maintaining and boosting your testosterone levels, naturally.

  1. Tribulus Terrestris
  2. ZMA - Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate, Magnesium Aspartate, and vitamin B-6

Both tribulus and ZMA are all natural compounds, and cause little or no side effects. Tribulus is a natural herb, and ZMA are just some minerals.

Tribulus Terrestris - Stimulating Natural Testosterone

Unlike other testosterone enhancers like Prohormones or Anabolic steroids, Tribulus Terrestris stimulates the production of LH (leutenizing hormone) in your body, which triggers the production of more testosterone in your body. It does so within your body's natural limits, and while it has little to no side effects, its potency is not quite comparable to Prohormones or Steroids. But if you're looking for a natural, and very safe way of increasing your testosterone levels, then Tribulus is what you need.

Aside from its main purpose, Tribulus also helps improve erections, helps with impotence problems, and I can tell you first hand that when you're on Tribulus, you're gonna get alot more erections.. So... maybe warn the girlfriend or the wife. ;-)

I won't go in details on how Tribulus works etc... you can read all about Tribulus in the following articles:

Tribulus Terrestris Information
Tribulus Terrestris side effects

For my cycle, I used the SportOne Tribulus 625, which is unfortunately discontinued, but that doesn't really matter, since there are other tribulus products out there - I just happened to pick the SO tribulus 625 just to try it out. Two tribulus products are recommended:

1) you can try the Biotest Tribex 500 (read about tribex 500 here) or,

2) you can get Optimum Nutrition's Tribulus 625

The Optimum Tribulus is a very, very nicely priced tribulus product. Its a 50 day supply for only $11.50. I have not tried this one just yet, although I do have a bottle at home for a later cycle, but Optimum is a very reputable company, and I would think this would be a good quality Tribulus product, and at a fantastic price. (The SO tribulus 625 I used cost me $27 for a 45 day supply.)

ZMA - Minerals For Testosterone??

That's right, supplementing zinc and magnesium can be very beneficial for you natural testosterone levels. In case you didn't know, through intense lifting and exercising, zinc and magnesium levels are depleted from your body which can lead to lowered testosterone levels, hindering gains. Although ZMA does not lead to a direct increase in production of testosterone, it's on the top of my list of supplements to take, just for its effects on improving natural testosterone levels.

And if you have a tough time sleeping, ZMA will put you away at night like a little baby. ;-) I already sleep very well, so I can't vouch for ZMA's effects on better sleep, but I have handfuls of reviews and feedback from users that tells me so. But I can tell you that you can probably expect some quite weird and interesting dreams in your sleep. Sometimes, I think ZMA is worth its money just for the dreams it produces. ;-) Obviously, I take it for bodybuilding purposes.

The ZMA supplement I used for my cycle was Optimum Nutrition's ZMA. I get a 30 day supply bottle for only $12 bucks, while most other ZMA supplements you find will cost in the $20 to $35 range. I'm a big fan of Optimum Nutrition's products - they make some real good stuff and sell at rally good prices.

Tribulus and ZMA Stack - Side Effects?

As far as I know, and from personal experience, there are no side effects of using Tribulus and ZMA. They make a great stack.

The only thing I should warn you about is possible acne problems. If you have a history of acne problems or are prone to acne breakouts, then you can expect some more acne break outs. Personally, I don't get much acne with the occasional breakout, but whenever I run a Tribulus ZMA stack, I get quite a bit more breakout. It's not necessarily a bad thing, cuz then I know its working great... but its not so great for your social life.

But no worries, recently, I've found an awesome solution that fixed my acne problems during the Tribulus ZMA stack. It works great, and my face is even clear while I'm on this stack. I've tried a lot of stuff out there, but nothing quite works. I got this acne treatment program from acne.org and best part is, its free! You only have to goto your local drug store to pick up a bar of soap, and some Nutrogena On The Spot. In a nutshell, here's what I do:

  1. Wash face gently with Nutrogena Soap Bar
  2. Gently pat dry
  3. Wait 15mins then apply the Nutrogena On The Spot (2.5% benzoyl peroxide) on problem areas

I highly recommend you visit that site and read about the full regimen in detail. You'll be glad you did. I noticed improvements almost next day, and after 1 week, my face is mostly clear, and after 2 to 3 weeks, your face should be almost all clear, depending on how sever your acne problem is. But for the average person, I think this program will work very nicely.
