Ginseng Benefit (Ginseng Tea)

Ginseng is one of the most highly regarded energy tonics of Chinese herbalism. It is an herbal adaptogen, helping the body to adapt to a variety of stresses. Many Ginseng supplements combine the extract with pure root insures all the important compounds of ginseng are captured, for a broad range of ginseng activity.

Ginseng is a herbaceous perennial. It has fleshy roots with the texture of a paronip, branched with root hairs and up to 30cm long. The stem has whorled leaves, which are arranged in circle around the stem. Each leaf on a mature plant has five leaflets. it may help the body react and adapt to both physical and mental stresses. By helping the body adapt to these stresses you are allowing it to utilize its energy stores in a more positive fashion.

Ginseng Properties & Benefits

Ginseng is a staple of traditional herbal medicine. It is considered to be one of the most powerful of medicinal herbs-improving one's circulatory system and enhancing the body's metabolism. Numerous books, articles and research herald ginseng as an "adaptogen" and nontoxic substance that helps the body to adapt to stress. Researchers have isolated certain plant compounds called saponins which are believed to be the reason for ginseng's adaptogenic properties.

Usually, the root of an herb is always stronger than the leaves and that is why the ginseng root is prized. It is often referred to as the "manroot" because its shape resembles a man's configuration. In fact, the better shaped roots command more value. Ginseng is not an annual crop, but a six year cultivated crop.

Types of Ginseng: Asian Ginseng (Panax Ginseng), American Ginseng, & Siberian Ginseng

Generally speaking there are three kinds of Ginseng in the world. Number one is Asia Ginseng, (Panax Ginseng)and it mainly come from China and Korea. Chinese Ginseng mainly grows in Changbai Mountain which is one of world grade natural conservation area. Next is American Ginseng, closely related to Panax Ginseng. It is indigenous to Eastern Canada and Appalachian mountain. Another is Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus Senticosus). It's a member of the Ginseng family, however not considered as a true Ginseng. Mainly come from Siberian regions of Russia and Northeast of China. Siberian Ginseng affects the body in a manner similar to Asian and American Ginseng.
