Hi. I read over the forums and didnt find the anwser I was looking for (although im pretty sure It's there.. somewhere.). What is tonalin? Is it a brand name? Is the CLA by Prolab the same CLA as tonalin CLA? Ive seen a Prolab bottle with tonalin on the label, and one without it on the label, and I dont know what the difference is. Thanks!

I've read somewhere that you shouldn't take your oil and fatty acid supplements (fish oils, flax, safflower, CLA, etc) at the same time as a high fiber meal or say with psyllium husks which are fiber. Apparently the fiber absorbs the oils and prevents them from being utilized by the body. They basically pass through your system bonded to the fiber.
I now take my psyllium husk in the morning and divide up my oils between afternoon and nighttime. Especially those yucky fish oils are good to take at night so I don't burp up a fishy taste during the day. |

Remember something; the double blind studies were based on 3 grams (I believe) a day. Most of the CLA (saf oil) for one pill is 1000mg, but that does not add to one gram (it is not a 1 to 1 ratio); I think it is about 4/5. Thus, buy the brand that the per dosage pill is 1285mg - which equates to 1 gram of actual CLA. This way you only need three pills a day, instead of 4. It does make it easier, especially when you have to remember to take all your other supplements. And, if you take below the 3 grams a day, you are taking below the dosage of that the individuals in the study took. I take mine from WELLNESS Edge - but there are others out there that offer the higher dosage.
Here is what I looked like before I took the CLA and straightened up my diet. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...K/0c54da74.jpg And after http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...034_edited.jpg Last edited by LTRIK; 12-31-2005 at 11:03 PM. |

Ive been taking VPX's liquid Tonalin for about a week. Each 4ml teaspoon(serving size) contains 4,400mg of CLA. I take 3 servings (teaspoons) a day. Am I taking too much b/c in one of the other forums somebody said that 1,200mg = 1 gram and you should get 3 grams a day?

Not sure; your product does not state if the TONLAIN is taken from SAFFLOWER oil or SUNFLOWER oil. The SAFFLOWER oil is far better than the other.
Read this article. http://www.powersupplements.com/cla-supplements.html |

Thanks for your help....For some reason I cant get into that link you sent me, but I tried finding some info on what you said and I found this from a website....
CLA Tonalin FAQ: The long version...or Isn't all CLA the same anyway? A: Actually, no. CLA was originally made from sunflower oil. After it was discovered that Safflower Oil produced much more of the fat loss ingredient than sunflower oil, the companies that were concerned with the effectiveness of their product switched to using Safflower Oil. Because sunflower oil is less expensive most companies still use it, even though it won't produce the same results as Safflower Oil. So be sure you are getting 100% safflower oil in the product you buy. To use the same product that was used in the clinical studies on fat loss, you need to purchase Tonalin brand CLA. Shopping around and asking questions. You will find that most companies selling CLA don't really know what's in it. ....So if it says Tonalin on the bottle does that mean its Safflower Oil? |

Not necessarily. Both versions are legitimate TONALIN, but, the one derived from the SAFFLOWER Oil is the better (far better) of the two. So, just simply look at the ingredients. It will either say, derived from SAFFLOWER or SUNFLOWER. If it says neither, do not buy it - it is probably from SUNFLOWER. |
