starving yourself is definately not the option. If you cut your calories down really low all that will happen is that your metabolism will adjust. Your metabolism adjusts itself to burn a specific amount of calories per day, if you eat more your metabolism will adjust to burn more and the less you eat the less your metabolism will burn. There are ways to shock your metabolism into burning more while you still eat less, google calorie cycling or zig-zag dieting. It is probably the most eficient and healthy way to burn fat. If you just go balls to the wall and stop eating as much every single day then you will surely hit a wall. This is where most diets suffer.

Start off with easier goals. Cut out pop/soda, chips, fried foods, ice cream, candy. Just drink cold water as it forces your body to burn calories in the form of energy to adjust the temperature of the water injested. Eat healthy and maintain a calorie deficit throughout the week with maybe one cheat meal during this week to curb cravings (keep this small).

Also cardio will be a big help in losing a lot of that weight, if you are more interested in losing fat and not too worried about muscle loss right now then cardio for 45 minutes to an hour a few times a week would be a good idea.

As for the loose skin, its different for everyone. Most people, however, that were extremely overweight will retain some loose skin once they lose all the fat. Surgery is often the only fix for this.

Welcome to the site and congratulations on making up your mind to take control. 8th started you off w/ good advice and I will add mine.
1. Diet is what you eat and doesn't mean starvation
2. Eat a well balanced "clean" diet of Proteins, Comblex Carbs, and good Fats
3. Have a sound workout schedule. A schedule that includes weights and cardio.
4. K.I.S.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!

You don't have to over analyze or out think this. Hitting the weights hard 3 days a week and doing cardio on your off days will be plenty. Eat 5-6 smaller meals a day. Taper off your ingestion of carbohydrates as it gets later in the day. If you work a regular 9-5, good rule is no carbs after 8:00 pm. READ! READ! READ! Learn as much as you can about nutrition, working out, supplements. That way, you can test a few things out on yourself and see what works and what doesn't.

As far as extra skin, if you loose weight too fast you can have issues but your still young enough that it may not matter. At first, you will see great changes in your weight but that isn't a good guage. Use a mirror and your clothes as your guide. If your having to buy smaller pants and shirts each and every month, but the scale isn't moving, you are making progress.

The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn to feed and maintain that muscle. This increases you metabolism. So too will your cardio workouts. You get hours of elevated metabolism after doing 25-40 minutes of cardio.

When I first came to this site and wanted to lose weight i just followed Jims guide on the main page here and it worked awesome. Still works great in fact. 11 calories per body pound at a 40% carbs 40% protein 20% fat ratio. Meals every 2.5 hrs. Zig zag is great but you can put that in later. Main thing is to learn about the foods you eat. Become interested in food and how you use it to fuel your body. There is no magic here and knowledge will set you free!!!

Cardio is great but lifting helps a ton.

Best advice i got in the beginning has already been given...KISS

Good luck
