my stationary bike ive been using is broke basically and im getting a new one. ive got it down to two but i dont know what type is the best. one is an air resistance one with a fan belt and the handlebars move in link with the pedals (like my old one) or there is a magnetic cycle with stationary handlebars, which one is more effective for fat loss?
i would be using it about 4 to 5 times a week, a mixture of long duration moderate intensity and HIIT (HIIT about once or twice a week) first one: Buy V-Fit Atlanta Air Cycle. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Exercise cycles. second one: Buy Reebok Fusion Cycle. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Exercise cycles. |

Can you try them? Go with the one that feels better to you. I personally woudln't choose either and i'd go with a spinner bike---but that is my personal preference. I think ideally go with something you will use. I never would use either. That is not a knock, i'm just saying, i wouldn't use one if even if it was sitting in the middle of my livingroom cause that's how much i don't like those particular kinds of bikes. So, as long as you will get it done, i think just go with the one you like better.

lol sounds like a pretty big knock to me. so why is it exactly you dont like they types? i had a look at spinner bikes and they are all about 300 pounds+
im not interested in cycling as a sport or cycling at all really, just a tool to lose some fat. so im not after a professional exercise bike. |

LOL well, i didn't mean to insult the bikes LOL some people really love them!
I like the spinners cause they feel like a real bike to me. I hop on one a couple times a week to mix things up. All other exercise bikes i've ever tried (and i've been to quite a few gyms) i have never liked. I don't know why. They don't feel like a bike and i don't like the way they feel when i do cardio on them, and i never ever use them cause i don't like them that much. It doesn't have to feel like the "real deal" (cause what would eliptical be then? LOL) but for some reason i just can't stand it. Cardio isn't my favourite thing in the world either LOL so i dont' want to torture myself by using something i really don't like. Not to be confused with hard though--- a stepmill is freakkin hard and i'd gladly (love-hate thing) torture myself with that. I think the most important fat-loss cardio one can do is the one that you enjoy doing the most. If your thing is bikes then for sure go out and get a bike. A bike or a stair master (not stairmill---those things are huge) is probably your best choice in terms of trying to get a piece of equipment in your home that's not going to take over half your living room. My parents have a tredmill at home (which i use so often right after i grocery shop in their kitchen... even though i'm 29 years old LMAO) and it takes up a lot of space. I could never fit that in my tiny little condo (if i wanted to have a couch that is). Please, if you like exercise bikes then don't let me discourage you from getting one LOL but you may find you prefer one model more than the other, if you have a chance to hop on it to try.

I feel Recumbent Bikes are more effective as "cardio machines". Pair that up with Max-OT cardio and you're golden. Can't go wrong with that!
