Default So..Diet?

So I've read a lot on cutting, on restricting calorie intake yet not eliminating carbs, needing to eat fats, drinking water a lot, having the right kind of macronutrient ratio things like that, yet I can't figure out how to calculate how I am supposed to do this...such as MY macronutrient ratio, and how many carbs I should eat per day, and Fats, and when the best time is (Post workout for carbs?), its really confusing to me.

Im 5'6'' 160lbs, and I want to cut yet I can't really figure out how even after reading up on it, maybe Im not reading the right things or misunderstanding but this is pretty much a cry for help....anyone want to assist me in my quest for understanding?

Thanks for your help

At 5'6" 160, I'd think about adding some LBM so I could at least have a decent BMR.
