wow. I am suprised. I always was not sure how great GNC was but them gettin bought out. I am suprised.

I kind of figured about this certificate of analysis you are talking about.
I just emailed this company called Optimum Nutrition since I am thinking of trying there product next. All they can tell me many people like our products ask people on message boards. They did not let me know if they have any published studies or what ever it is dannyboy said in regards to there product. Does that mean it could be fake? I don't know. I just would like something that works. lol.

Can you post up what their reply was newkid? I could use a good laugh

But in the end, they pretty much told you that they didn't have any proof that their product works, you just have to take people's word for it, right?

So the certificate in the end really means nothing. If a company's products were so good, why wouldn't they patent their products. Anyone can copy their product's blend and make an imitation of it so how good can the product really be if they don't have a patent on it? If you discovered the cure to AIDS and were able to put it into a pill, wouldn't you patent it so no one can copy/ make money off of YOUR hardwork and YOUR time that you put in to creating such a product? That's just the way I see it.

Why wouldn't a company also put their products up to a few clinical tests to prove how "high quality and efficient" their products are.

Question: If GNC was so good (seeing how most swear by their multi for example), why was the manager of the one I go to telling me how they were going to go public so they can get bought out because they weren't doing so good....

I wouldnt be so sold on a clinical trial. IMO that doesnt mean jack either.
I code software that manages clinical trials for many big pharma companies. It cost allot of $$$ to hold a trial and if a company puts out for one their gona do everything in their power to ensure they can make the numbers fall in their favor. If they get 1% better than the other "drug" or Placebo all th e sudden they can say "Clinically proven to" <add some bull crap here>. Its all about the $$$$$$

Any no ones is gona even try to cure AIDS, they can make way more $$$$$$ just making something that works 1% better than placebo does to prolong your miserly. If they cured it, AIDS would go away & their great product would not be needed any more. But if they can just make it 1% better than a sugar pill - there in the $$$$$$ and its gona keep on rolling in. At least until the next company can up their product by 1%.

Guess all i'm trying to say is it's all about the $$$$$$
But at least i get my cut of the $$$$$$

All I know is GNC said what you said danny. Pretty much no proof in there product of products they sell. I feel for there trap. I am gald you are educating me while others are jumping to conclusions of me and my diet.

This is what a buddy told me.

"I just quit my job at GNC and all I can say is be careful what you buy there. Their weight gainer sucks as do most of there products! You spend $29 plus for it and you only get 5 servings. Another thing is, is that we all work off of commission, but only on certain products, and any of pro performance weight gainers such as 1850 or 2200 are all commission products. Why do you think we keep getting new producs all the time. It would never sell so we have to keep putting out new products to try to make money.
I worked there for a year and a half and I used just about everything you can think of. The only products I had any success with were creatine which I lost the gains after the cycle. even though most if not all of the immediate weight you gain is water. Protein powders though, I've found, don't add very much mass to you like food will, not to mention never tasted great and results were never positive but it does keep your body in a positive nitrogen balance (without nitrogen you wont grow).

Anyway, the best advice I can give is to stick to basic nutrition and avoid any outrageous claims like 10 pounds in a month. And those androstenedoine companies are selling nothing but androgens which will give you some energy but really wont give you very much in the way of muscle gains. All in all I am glad I stoped working there. As of my knolwedge our product is no better than the other stuff we sell in our store just your average supplements."

Companies that aren't floozies hold several clinical studies on products. The companies that know their stuff, tend to sometimes have comparisons with their products with other popular brand names. Even though they are liable to get sued, I haven't heard of any of this happening yet because you can't sue if the information is right

Hey guys it's been a while since I've had a chance to log in but I've been busy with so many things. work has been pretty hectic (8-5 jobs) suck but at least it's not Mcdonalds! i'm sure there's been a lot of good information going around here and it's a shame i haven't been able to log on. hopefully i'll be able to stick around and log in more frequently. my weight loss efforts have been worked at as well and i have been on shaklee's inch loss program for quite some time now and i must say i'm pretty impressed. i have lost weight with other systems and all but this is a different kind of weight loss.

i forgot to tell mention yesterday when I posted, hopefully i'll be looking at some more time to stick around on the boards so i can share in the knowledge and maybe learn a few tips and tricks more. I've been reading up a lot on-line and even checked out the library the other day and my interest for nutrition and lifting weights has grown since my last log in. I hope to see you guys around more often cause my schedule won't be so hectic for the next several weeks. later!

Hello there Newkid. What type of diet are you on? From the looks of it, you seem to be very satisfied with your results. That's a definite plus seeing how so many individuals go through with diets and all sorts of crazy extents to lose weight except get a good diet down and maybe even get in a simple 20 minutes of exercise a day.

Cut your calories to about 1700 maxx a day

Lean cuts of meat chicken breast tuna extc.

lots of salad

stay away from white bread, or any other types of crap, including sugar, diet soda, caffeine..

If you want a supp

Try
L-carnitine
Chromium

those are aminos that help you burn off energy instead of having your body store them for later use

i wa son that when i was 15 and with a good diet and hard exercise i dropped 20lbs in a month or soo

hey newkid u did good bro 3 months ago i weighed 225 im 5-10 and i now weigh 192 but its like i just cant lose any more weight! i mean i still have alot of fat around my waist that i would love to burn off! so u recommened just to have a nutritional diet? instead of using supplement crap? because im in summer vacation and i want to come back to school lookin good?

my eatting habit used to be good but now i dont really eat as good
morning- drink water, take a 2 mile jog, i eat egg whites with a protein shake and a bannana.

after noon- i try really hard to eat things i think will benefit me like chicken or rice or some kind of salad

dinner- same as lunch after dinner i wait an hour then i go workout at the gym from 7-9 pm then come home and have another protein drink, then im done for the day.

i dont eat fast food, all i drink is water and Gatorade any other suggestion of what i should eat or what i should do?

my upper body looks great but my core section is still jelly and it pisses me off! i do alot of ab workout but it just wont come off, i mean i only have 3 months of training but i just want some advice of what to eat and if im doing everything okay?
