By the way-
my diet has been fairly solid as far as bulking goes... I eat a lot but over the last couples years of highschool I've disciplined myself to lots of water (3L/day, only including bottled) and to break up my big meals into smaller ones throughout the day, and eat stuff like oatmeal and eggs more. i also take in lots of proteins (just started using whey too) and eat fairly clean, but i still need to work on cravings and all that.. thanks again |

yo Thanks for the response,
Working on pics.. but the best picture I can paint for ya is a BMI of 25% (according to the net.. tho I realize calipers would be ideal). Looking at myself and my lifestyle I think I'll go ahead with "clean" bulking.. I wanna lose fat, but also get bigger. I need some direction.. should i continue with my 3-day split and then just eat "clean" as the only change in routine? Like instead of cutting (lots of cardio, reducing my caloric intake), just continue lifting and just clean up my lifestyle? Also, how about cardio.. I've been doing HIIT a couple times a week during offdays.. In fact if anyone has some links with solid information about "clean" bulking and save time that'd be great. How about at least telling us your height, weight, and general build (skinny, a little chubby, overweight, obese). What kind of shape are you in and how much experience do you have with working out? Cutting versus bulking is a question that most people have when starting out. Either way commit to one or the other, don't sit on the fence. Spend at least 8-12 weeks doing one and then re-assess your goals.

Alright
I'm 5'8" tall, weigh around 165 lbs, i'm "chubby" with endomorph bodytype.. I'm in relatively good shape though, I have been lifting weights regularly for over a year, but began working out 2 years ago. Since I've been lifting I've gained significant muscle mass.. but I still have plenty of bodyfat.. I wanna lose the fat, but I would also like to continue gaining muscle (or lose as little muscle as possible in the process). Are there any routines possible? maybe i can keep up with mine now, I just need help perfecting my diet. Last edited by thesnow; 07-31-2006 at 12:02 AM. |

yeah diet is the most important factor - however:
cardio and most exercise'll make you generally healthier you'll need to lift if you want any extra muscle however, like dog20 said - if you just want to look slimmer then a diet may be just as good...the only problem is that when you get to your target level of fat you'll probs feel good about yourself and want to get more muscle and kick yourself for not lifting

I am a little late on this thread, but I would say you should either bulk or cut depending on what your personal goal is within a realistic timeline.
Its very difficult for me to get cut. If I eat right, train hard, supplement with NO and creatine, I can put on the pounds and strength goes up. In order to cut up I have to drop my calories and strength goes down. But I am getting there. Once I get there, I will try to build mass without losing my cuts. Again, assess what your current goal is and take it from there. |
