Default Fat loss help

I curently weigh 285 pounds and i am starting a low fat diet again. I did it before and lost 30 pounds in about a month and a half. I broke up with my girlfreind and quit dieting but i am now ready to start again. I would like to know what supps i can take to help cut, what routines i can do, and just any help. Losing weight is my primary goal im not realy worried about getting bigger muscles right now. thanks

You should cut carbs, but not too much (complex carbs from whole grains are good). Cut out ALL fast food and all dessert items. Switch to skim milk, drink 1-2 gallons of water a day, limit sodium, and stop drinking carbonated beverages (if you must drink them stick to diet sodas/ preferrably something with Splenda). You should also eat plenty of vegetables and get some quality protein like grilled chicken or tuna. Try to get in some good cardio 3-4x a week (try searching HIIT on this site it is an excellent cardio program) Building muscle is also pretty much essential to making your body look better IMO and it will make weight loss easier by raising your metabolic rate so that you will burn more calories and fat even while you sleep. Building muscle will make you feel better as well which is key to a successful weight program. The best way to build muscle is to use heavy weights with low repetitions. Hope this helps.

Default More diet opinions

I agree with most of what the above said. However, I support a carb based diet with 60% of your calories from carbs. 50% of your grains should be whole. Keep simple sugars to a minimum. Fat can still comprise 20-30% of your calories, the balance of which is protien. The key to weight loss is to eat less than you burn. Reduce calories by 500 per day for weight loss. Adding excercise will increase weight loss. I recommend 45-60mins of moderate cardio (65-75% of max heart rate) 5 days per week. Keep a diet log or go to mypyramid.gov and log in your foods daily for 2 weeks. You will get some good feedback. Good luck!
