Try to stay under 20g if possible. 30g was the highest I ever went.

Just a question, CKD doesn't work around net carbs - does it?

Yes, it works with "net" carbs. I do believe some things affect insulin though, like sorbitol. I suggest not using those "only 3 net carbs" bars. Eat meat, eat fish, eat cheese, eat nuts. Drink whey only pwo.

I just find net carbs interesting. No nutritional book I've read has mentioned them but these low carbs diets seem to love them

pwo you ONLY drink whey, no carbs, I would be tempted to throw in 5-10g, 1/2 dex, 1/2 oats or something, or is this the wrong path...?

I've taken 15-20g dextrose post workout, it did not kick me out of ketosis.

Default low carb bar kick me out of ketosis?

Hey All,
I am just starting CKD and was wondering: I need a lot of energy for work(I'm a letter carrier and am walking between 4-7 hours/day) and is it possible to buy a low carb bar for energy during a low carb day? or will this kick me out of ketosis?

Anika,

I have had some bars kick me out, while others did not. The Atkins bars sure don't, and CarbWise (or was it Carb Solutions?) also do not kick you out.

The best thing would be to bring some beef or turkey jerky

God Bless those with the willpower to do this diet, it's more than I can handle. I think I'm goin to always be stuck having a soft middle cuz I just can't live like this. Is there a more moderate way to loose fat and not be so Nazi-esk about carbs? I try to be as low carb as I can, but I concentrate more on being low sugar cuz I realize I"m a bit of a sugar addict (who isn't?). I try to avoid bread, pasta (which I don't like anyway) and things like that. I once met a bodybuilder who stedfastly stood behind the notion that white rice, potatoes, and yams, things like that were good carbs. I can't eat bacon and steak for life. After breaking the routine on the weekend I couldn't get back on the wagon, it's too difficult. I tried Atkins once(I lasted two weeks), I turned into a maniac and was the moodiest S.O.B you ever saw!

This is the most effective cutting diet I've used. Where alot of people ruin it is the carb-up. Just because you can eat carbs doesn't mean all the carbs need to be crap. It is still a diet! However that weekly cheat meal is all the better from having the cravings all week.

A few questions, just make sure i got it. Thanks!

1. So during the carb cutting days-- the <20 g carbs would go into the post workout shake then? cos isnt it been said that you need some carbs to help the proteins to be absorbed?

2. (And overall, how do the proteins get absorbed during the mon-fridays when there is no carb at all to do the transport?)

3. The Carb loading weekend, the calories for carbs and fat are spread out over the 36 hours, right?
