Default Did my old work-out affect my athleticism?

So I'm finally happy. I posted on these forums a while back figuring out how to cut BF and I finally did. Went from 315 to 240 lbs (back up to 250 right now) and I feel great. Now, since I've lost all this weight I feel so much more agile, quicker, and overall healthier. I'm started to train for football again and I wanted to see if my 40 time had decreased with the loss of weight. I ran a 5.2 @ 315 lbs, so I figured I could hit a 5.0 4.9 with no training really. I was wrong, I'm up to a 5.5 which is horrible and I feel as if I can't hit my goal of a 4.8/4.7. What would be the best thing to do as of right now? I know I should do cleans, squats, pull sleds, run hills, etc, but why did I get so much slower when I feel so much more agile? I've been trying to do research on this and the only thing I can really find is just that my workout trained my body out of 'athletic mode'. People also state if you lose weight = running faster. that's not my case for some reason.
