Angry WTF - Frustrated

OK so get this, about 6 weeks ago, I strolled into the gym to do my Tuesday chest workout. I did my warm up set (135) and man, it seemed heavier than usual. I pushed through anyway and got through the day never getting my 225 set in. Chalked it up to a weak day, they do happen sometimes. Fast Forward 1 week. No pain but complete weakness on the left side, dumbbell week and I kicked up the 65ers to warm up. Nothing on the left side, couldnt push out 1 rep, right side, no problem. To put it in perspective, I probably could have done 85's on the right and 30's on the left to get a set in. Frustrated, I went to the barbell and literally could not do one rep at 135. I have come to the conclusion that it is my tricep but again, no pain at all, just complete weakness. Today, feeling great as always, about 4 weeks after this whole thing started, I am able to get through my workout but still weak on the left side, its the 1st to give out and I basically cant lift more than about 160 6x. WTF??? I guess its getting better but what is wrong to begin with. I left today rock hard on my right pec but no pump on the left. Worked through my normal routine just much less weight on the lifts. Pec deck, cables, no problems, still push as much as ever. No discomfort and each week I go in thinking it's going to be OK but after 6 weeks of this crap, here I am on BBFY asking for some words of wisdom. so......anyone have any?

Just to be put on a muscle relaxer and told to lay off the lifting for a while? I've done that already. I thought that maybe someone here may have had a similar experience that I could get some insight into but based upon the answer I got from SunnyInc, I may need to rethink the quality of people I find myself taking advice from on this site.

Actually, it was a typo. I was supposed to say "go" not "do". As you may have noticed, the 'g' is located fairly close to the 'd' on the keyboard so my mistake is understandable. If you the slightest clue as to what you're on about I'd think you'd find I'm quite competent at speaking the English language, having studied it at university and all. If you'd like I can start picking your posts apart for grammatical errors - I could go all day.

sont mind sunnyinc.. must be that time of the month

anyway.. possibly some kind of nerve trouble maybe? i dunno.. sounds almost like numbness kind of where you have a little feeling bit no strength? i know that sometimes my right tricep feels incredibly weak.. and I am right handed. But never that extreme I usually rest it 2 weeks or so, along with my whole body and itll pick up again in no time

You know, for awhile I was working with 255 for sets, then slowly slowly dropped down to less reps and 235. A lot was shoulder pain, but also I did seem to be getting weaker. I was bulking so I know I had enough cals. to help with growth, and even took a week off all together. And I still can't get my numbers up where they were. I hope someone can solve this mystery for us.

And the silliness is I was gaining like hell on squats and deads.

There is a lot of good ppl here, not to worry. I will def jump in if this gets out of control

As for your problem it seems very interesting and there could be many causes.
The stroke thing is scary as hell....but possible. Another one can be damage to the shoulder, may want to look into that. I leaning towards some kind of damage that you have suffered in the arm

I would agree with you. I noticed some weakness on tricep push downs. I had a knot in my tricep that I went and got worked out with a massage. The weakness was there prior to getting the massage so I don’t think that is what did it. I'm stumped. I just got back from an incredible back workout. 22 total sets + abs. No problems at all. Tricep pushdowns and chest is all that seems to be impacted. It’s not numb & it doesn’t hurt - No weakness in my daily activity. I'm not favoring it at all and except when benching, I would never know it was not 100%. I know, I know - The doctor. I guess I just need to go to a new one because my "sports doctor" just prescribes muscle relaxers and tells me to take time off. I've been seeing the same doc for years and every time I get a lifting injury, that’s what he does. I end up just working through it until its better, which is what I am doing now. It’s just not getting better fast enough. But it IS getting better. It's very frustrating not being able to get a good chest workout in. I think I'll be fine after a few more weeks.

Thank you to everyone that offered sound advice & insight. I don’t think it’s a stroke because it’s not an entire left side thing but thank you. Basically, I was just throwing it out there to see if anyone had experienced something similar. Apparently waynaferd did but like me, never figured it out.

Sorry for the long winded post. I put everything I am into my workouts and have been injured before, I almost wish it hurt so I could at least point to the problem. This one is kicking my a$$ and I just want it to heal up.

That was ****ing solid advice I gave you mate; you need to see a physio. The reason I called you a moron was because I think you're a bloody idiot for not seeing a physio a couple of weeks ago when your left side first became an issue. If you can't handle a little bit of lip here and there then do everyone a favour and disconnect your modem immediately. Either that or harden the **** up...

You are just a jerk that likes to post bull$hit. You can offer advice without being abusive. It's insecure bullies like you that make people afraid of posting and asking questions. You alienate and belittle people. I dont need to toughen up, I'm plenty tough. You need to go work out your issues on some other site. Why dont you do yourself a favor and hit the weights as hard as you hit your keyboard. Then you wont be the little man looking in the gym window wishing you could be a real man. Grow up kid. Oh sorry - MATE.

.

I've been pondering it for awhile, and all I can think of is since my deads and squats were going up, and bench going down, was that all the muscle building was going on in the legs and back, leaving the upper body out. Dunno if it works that way or not, but I'm slacking on the back and leg routine, while focusing more on the chest and shoulder excercises. Hopefully within a week or two the numbers will be climbing. Only one way to find out, I guess!! Good luck to ya!
