Default Rest , Doctors or A&E ??

Hi All,

I'm writing this while in a bit of pain and hope someone out there could shine some light either through personal experience or their general knowledge of sports injuries

I'm 24 and stand 6'2" tall but feel i am to skinny and want to bulk up with a bit of muscle and weight so bought the workbench and weights and made a a start now in to my 5th week of training and see a difference in gain but yesterday i hit a major snag .

after doing a few sets of barbell curls and bench presses and lunges i felt fine straight after but 6 hrs later am in agony i keep getting sharp shooting pains in my mid abdomin which briefly last 10 seconds and seem to occur with no reason , looking through google it seems it might be a stomach muscle strain but i found it strange as i did no work on my stomach that day just biceps ,chest and legs, it is not lower abdominal at all

this is the first time it has happened and i havent increased weights or anything and i made sure my technique was good and do a small warm up / strech before starting. pain wise i'd give it a 7 but because its so brief i can deal with it easily

Shall i just give it time to rest or a visit to doctors or hospital on the cards

so far i have had the ice vs heat treatment

Any Help Grateful

Is the pain more "in" your stomach area or more superficially located? In other words, is it a deep pain or a surface pain?

From what you're saying, it sounds more like ulcers than anything else. But you should remember that your abs are used in just about every exercise your do as stabalizers. It is called your 'core' for a reason.

On a wild guess, it could be something you ate that day that really upset your stomach. I remember i had a little too much barbeque and it hammered me the next day, but thats just me--it could be something else.
