Anybody here every have a problem with their MCL or Meniscus? What was the pain like? Recovery? Surgery?
I've been working my balls of 4-5 days a week. Running and sprint work in the AMs and lifting at night. I've been eating right, not drinking alcohol, not doing drugs, and then this thing with my knee happens 2 weeks out from my last rugby tournament as a collegiate rugby player. In hind sight I should have gotten it checked sooner, but the pain and popping sound went away until yesterday. Yesterday after some drills I was just standing there when my knee just popped and gave out. Inside side of my right leg is where the pain is concentrated. The pain decreases as it passes through to the outside of my knee. The back of my knee is also tender. When my ankle is rotated outwards I get a sharp pain. When my leg is fully extended, I can feel the pressure in the back of my knee. My coach says it's characteristic of an MCL/Meniscus tear. This could be a 1-12 week injury. Time to go to the hospital and find out what's up.

I had surgery on a torn meniscus which is described in my journal. First real "gym" workout will be this week. I can't tell you much about MCL surgery though.

Hospital took an x ray, no breaks. I gotta follow up with an orthopedic soon to get an MRI. Knee Immobilizers suck balls

Just be careful and make sure your doctor knows what to look for and such. My meniscus tear did NOT show up on my MRI. If it really ends up bothering you then you can always ask for a knee scope (arthroscope) and they can actually go in and look around. Minimally invasive and they might be able to repair through that if they find anything. Goodluck.

Dude, that blows.
It's been about a month and I haven't had the time to see an Ortho yet, stupid, I know. I can walk on it for a while before the pain starts to set it. On full, forced lockout I get a pain in the back of my knee and on the inside frontal portion. There is a swelling on the outer underside of my patella. Before, I could stand for hours and feel fine, now when I stand for more than a few hours I get a crazy lower back pain. I've been real swamped with trying to finish college, I just finished today and I'll be seeing an Ortho really soon. I'm praying that my injury isn't as bad as yours.

Locking usually means its meniscus damage, when they fix that they actually dont "Fix" it they reshape it and cleanup the scar tissue..
Depending on how bad it is will depend on how much they cut out and reshape... The pain seems to be a ligament issue.... Could be acl, thats the most common..... My pc was fkkin cut out by my first doctor during a surgery and thats usually the leats likely to get damaged from sports cause its soo strong and the place where its at.... Best bet bro is go to a good orthapedist in your area, theyll send you for a mri, and they can at least see if there is a tear or a deformaty in the area No matter what theyll artho you.. and if you have a good ortha, which i def say you should get soo you dont get fkked like me, hell do the repair right then and there.... Dont go for the graft if it is a ligament issue, cause the recovery is alot longer do to them making multiple insicions, and degenerating where they harvested the tissue from, go with a cadaver , it worked well for me, considering the state im in Best luck to ya bro

Glad to know you will be getting it sorted! Let us know how things go and go ahead and post up your rehab! I am sure there will be others on this board who will have to undergo something similar.

Meniscectomy today.
As usual, coming out of general anesthesia was awesome. Room spinning (actually that was awesome haha), freezing cold, so thristy, and my knee felt like it was getting stabbed. They gave me pain meds through the IV and I was in and out of consciousness for an hour or so while in recovery. It's been about 9 hours and I feel quite good. I can already bear weight on the leg. Now the only thing I'm scared of is taking off the bandage on Tuesday and seeing some sort of pus or staph.

Shouldn't have an issue w/ infection but good luck anyway! I was up walking the same day. Probably wasn't the best idea but I did it. I did use the crutches outside the house though. Kinda keeps peope away
