Default time to start plyos?

I want to start training for explosiveness, agility, speed, and vertical jump with some plyometric programs that I have. Problem is that I am about 40-50 pounds over the weight that I want to be. Should I finish losing the weight, (Down over 30 already), before starting or will the extra weight just give me better results because of the added weight? Kind of like wearing a weight vest? I do not want to risk injury is my main concern. Any advice would be appreciated.

Even a basic plyometric routine is very taxing on the joints. High impact.

You should consider loosing the extra weight before proceeding with plyo's.

Also when and if you do make sure to start a joint support suppliment. Glucosamine is great to help keep the joint lubricated.

IMO you really do need to get rid of the extra weight FIRST.....your knees will thank you
