Thanks for the reply, i should have said, i've already googled it, but i was looking to see if anyone that weight lifts has had it and if any specific exercises have worked to help them.
my doctor is suggesting i have the surgery to remove the ligament, but I'm leary of that, i have heard that you really loose strength in your hands without that ligament..

i am by no means a doctor and do not pretend to know more then you're doc would so please only take this for what its worth...

I work in an office where more then a few people have gone under the knife for this... haven't seen one yet that came back feeling any better, in fact all of them regret the decision to go under the knife, most are actually in worse pain now.

The doc has ruled out any type of non evasive therapy?

his main reason for suggesting the surgery is that i'm in front of a keyboard 50+ hours a week and i have another 30+ years before i retire...
so he said i would be better off to nip this in the bud, i don't really like that answer, and I'm looking for other ways to deal with it, quiting my job would work, but then i wouldn't have any money....

he had my try some braces to wear when i sleep, but they made it worse,

i cut the caffeine out of my diet, and went down to light lifting, and it seems to be a little better, but would be nice if i could find away to get closer to normal.......

I've suffered from this in the past from a combination of long hours of keyboard work & lifting weights.

As mentioned by another poster you need to look at your posture while at your desk, you'll be amazed at how much it can affect it.

I've also used this cream with great results, although you will need to place less stress on the area until you recover.
Carpal Tunnel Cream - Relief from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, CTCream

Hope you can avoid the surgery!

Indeed. That would really help a lot, a friend of mine who was spending around 16 hours a day at the pc while studying was suffering from this after like a month of being like that. What really helped him though was to stop using the pc for like a month or too, then he was back to normal, though if you can't stop for work reasons, try to have your arm in a comfortable position while using the pc, I cant really say how since Im not an expert on the subject, but it would certainly change things a bit. Though I suggest you stop using pcs for a while... maybe ask for vacations or whatever, staying away from pc should help, and although this can sound like heresy for some in here, I wouldnt weight lifts if I had carpal tunnel syndrome.
