Default Knee pain need advice

Hey i have been running for years now i am 25. But about a month ago i was running and I dunno exactly what happen but not my knee is killing me, havent beeen able to run since. I talked to a trainer and some PT's at my school and they told me i prob have patellar tendonitis. AKA jumper knee.

They told me to stop running for a couple weeks, which i have, though i have hit the no impact runner ever since. But it kills and i am only able to go 20 min or so. What should i do? Maybe glucosamine/msm? Should i really stop doing cardo? Even if i work hard on a bike it still hurts. I really dont want to stop cardo because i am doing so well right now

PS i was running 5 miles about 4 or 5 times a week mostly on sidewalk

Go to the doctor.

You might consider taking Cissus also.

Do you feel a popping feeling in the knee when running or walking?

Do you feel like your knee shifts or gives out?

Is it Swollen at all?

You can take glucosamine, but its effectiveness dosent happen overnight, even the most strongest compounds, still take around 6-8 weeks to start working where youll notice it..

Msm, will help reduce swellin and rebuild anything thats damaged....
Alot of companies will put anywheres from 250-500 of msm into there product to make the person feel a faster effect from there compound...

Another good product that helps relieve pain and swelling/tenderness, is Cox2Tame..... By Jarrow Formulas....

COX 2 TAME is a synergistic blend of herbal extracts and oleoresins (full spectrum herbal extracts) known to provide natural Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme inhibition. COX-2 inhibition is important for healthy joint function, normal cellular development (overexpression of COX-2 causes abnormal cell development) and healthy aging .
MaxDHA is a source of Omega 3 fatty acids known to generate prostaglandins series 3 (PGE3) and inhibit COX-2.
GLA , from Borage seed oil extract, enhances synthesis of prostaglandins series E1 (PGE1).
Devil's Claw contains COX-2 inhibitors iridoid glycosides, such as harpagosides, clinically proven to improve joint motility and flexibility.
White Willow Bark is a bitter herb rich in flavonoids and salicyclic derivatives (salicin and salicortin) responsible for inhibiting COX-2.
Other COX 2 TAME Herbs: Curcumin, Ginger, Quercetin, Resveratrol, Green Tea : sources of powerful phenolic antioxidants which disrupt the signaling processes which activate COX-2 gene expression.

You may or may not take this with the msm, i would reccomend taking it with the msm, for a good full effect...

I have used this combonation and have great results myself off of it...

1 reccomendation i must say , is good a good quality msm power, For too much of it from a not soo good source may, or may not cause heavy metal buildup into your body.....

I reccomend Rich's msm its very good and consitant in working.... And it is in the most broken down and purest form....

If you still wanna go the glucosamine/chondrotin..... I would say get a liquid form , alot of them will come with msm already in it.

I say liquid form cause the absorbtion rate into the body is greatly higher due to its liquid form, plus alot of the pills you must take 5-6 up to 3 times a day, and for me thats alot.....

If it's tendonitis, you're going to need as much rest as you can give it. Go to the doctor and follow his/her instructions. It sounds like this is a serious issue for you... don't fool around with advice you've gotten off the internet.

Does your school not have an infirmary on campus? You could at least check there, I don't think you would need insurance for that.

Yes but what would they do there? Recommend me to specialist prob. I bought some stuff from walmart called triple flex, which has glcN and msn and some "lubravite" blend. The label looked pretty flashy and says fast relief 7 days.

The blend is white willo bark extract and ginger root extract

i prob should have bought just glucosamine and msm but o well i got sold.

IF i dont get better in a couple weeks i will go see a dr.

Take if from someone that deals with Patellar Tendonitis in my left knee. You can take all the Glucousamine/Chondroitin, MSM, Motrin, you want and it may never help. Don't avoid the Doctor because you "think" you know what you have. Get a definitive answer so you can get working on correct rehab. I do Tae Kwon Do training daily with a sparring class on Tuesdays. Everytime we drill using pads, targets, bags, my left knee is screaming on the way home. I can't squat or do leg extensions or lunges to the left. I have an appointment with the Sports Orthopedist next month for a full lower skeletal work up (taking up Martial Arts after 40 causes so unique aches and pains and colorful toes and ankles). The Patellar Tendonitis was diagnosed by my Primary Care physician and forwarded to the S.Orthopedist.

Last thing you want to do is guess on any injury that is causing you pain. You may just be saving one the most important joints in you body.

Not to say , what all of yous are saying are bad, but take it form me , pending another surgery, and 2 i have underwent this year, tendonitis, isnt a surgical procedure they can correct..

Chances are there goin to throw you on some sort of NSAID to keep it down...

NSAID= Non Steroidal Anti Impflamatory

Probally celebrex or some sort of that...

I have taken celebrex, it work dont get me wrong , better hve them write you a script for proilosec whaile your at it, and and take milk thistle casue thats hit ****s your body up...

I only said take the herbal stuff first cause theres no real sides from that stuff...

I will agree above if its unbearable go see your doc....Which will then tell you to go see a orthapedist, then mris possibly, yadd ayadda yadda..

But No tendonitis cannot be fixed surgically, and if the doc says its that try taking the herbal **** first before you go ****in yourself up with the **** there goin to give you

so I got the triple flex rapid relief stuff from walmart with 1.5g glucosamine hydrochloride, MSM .750g, some blend white willio bark ginger root

And my knee is feeling quite a bit better after i about a week of taking it. I will prob want to buy some more glucosamine/msm from sams should i look for any particular brand/blend/type of glucosamine sulfate, hydroCl, ....

though my knee is not 100% and i still wont risk a run, im hoping in the next couple weeks it will be back. I have been able to do elliptical for 30 min without to much irritation

NEWS FLASH- if webmd solved everything there would be no doctors. A specialist will properly diagnose exactly what you have, give you an anti imflammatory and a rehab plan. Have fun suffering if you dont go. Athletic injuries are nothing to attempt to fix on your own. And just because you have been active your whole doesnt mean a thing- if youve been running on concrete or a hard surface, this has been years in the making. And for the love of god, stop doing the elliptical. Great, its low impact- who cares. You need no impact. Stop being silly.
