Default Shoulder troubles doing squats

The past few times I've done squats, I'm getting a good bit of pain (sharp at first, then dull) in my left shoulder (3-4/10). It happens when I go under the bar and reach up to grab it right before I lift it off the rack. It happens as I position myself to get ready for the lift - it's almost like I have something in a bind. Background - this shoulder was slammed pretty good in a car wreck a few years ago, but an MRI at the time was negative for any damage. Any thoughts?

i read this excercise/strech off this one website....(Dante..dogg crapps website) do a search im sure youll find it-its one of the stickies on his site...forget the name of the website right now.
but basically it says get a long stick like a broom handle or even a beach towel and hold it out in front of you arms straight and try and bring it up over your head and aroudn to your back-all while keeping your arms straight. Takes alot of getting used to and practice but ive been doing it for a week now and my shoulder has been feeling awsome.
im sure someone on here knows the site...intense muscle or something like that???

Thanks, I can try to incorporate some more stretching to see if that helps me out any.

DC stretching sounds like a good idea. I could use that for my shoulders. I don't get a problem for regular squats but when I do front squats I get this pain right before I am going to rack the weight, like both my shoulders are about to tear and pop out. So anytime I don't do regular squats I just been doing LOW box squats and they've been working great.
