Default How did I hurt my back?

Doing shoulder shrugs????

I didn't even go heavy... I was really lazy in the gym yesterday but at least I was there and finished my workout... I didn't want to go heavy and load up a barbell to do my shoulder shrugs, so I just grabbed the heaviest dumbells we have in our gym (100lbs)

I can do this no problem, and have many times... but on my third set, eigth rep I felt a pain in my upper back... I put the weights down, and its been hurt ever since.... (This was about 18 hours ago)

What could I have possibly done wrong? (I was doing these standing up, and I doubt I slouched my back)

Did you work your shoulders the day before? Did you bend over in a weird way when you put the dumbells down? If you go down too fast with 100 lbs it can do some damage. Even if 100 lbs isnt much for your muscles it can still be alot for you back.

I did shoulders right before I did traps actually... Nothing seemed to get injured during those workouts though...

and it didn't happen as I was putting the weights back, it happened during a rep toward the end of a set...

I guess it's just one of those things that happens from time to time, gotta let it heal and I'll be good to go

I had a similiar experiance with barbell hack squats. I was coming up from almost ASG and right under my left shouldre blade towards the middle of my back I got his pain. It even hurt for a few days to breathe in. But fortunetly it went away, try going to the doctor? Maybe its just out
