Default Sore Neck from Shoulder Press

Holy cow...I worked out today at lunch and I did 2 warm up sets of Shoulder Presses...fine. Added my usual weight and when I got to around my 8th rep, boom, a SHARP pain runs from my shoulder, up the back of my neck...Instant headache!

Im at work now and I can barely keep my head up and I have the biggest headache!!! WTF???
Anyone else ever experience this?

Maybe the weight was too heavy and/or your form was off...

When doing shoulder presses you should keep your whole body pretty much motionless and stuck to the bench and the only things that should be moving are you arms. Check your form for sure because if you got a pain in your NECK when doing SHOULDER presses....think about it

I got that a month or so ago. I went to an osteopath and she 'fixed' me!

This use to happen to me without the headache. I would get a real "burner" on the right side of my neck from shoulder to skull every time I did behind the neck presses. I would get them once or twice on the left. I finally figured out that I would move my head while lifting. I now keep perfectly still! I look straight ahead and work really hard not to move at all!

This used to happen to me almost every time i did presses. I was fine until I looked over my shoulder driving home from the gym and I would get a severe pain in my neck. What I now do is I warm up my neck on the neck machine or use a head strap with weight. Then I stretch my neck and since I've been doing this I've had no problems there.
