Default Strongest Bull Competition

A buddy of mine and me are competing in our college's strength competition. The events are bench press and deadlift. I've trained for bench press before, negatives, weighted dips, etc., but I don't really know any specialized moves to help my deadlift. I've always used deadlift to train for clean and jerk so this is kind of backwards for me. Obviously heavy lower back exercises are a must but if anyone can give me some pointers it would be great.

Well, Deadlifting is the only way to get good at deadlifting. But if you find that you can pull the weight off the ground but just cant lock out, then you can do overloads.

find a power rack and set the pins about 2~4" above your knees, then set the bar there and load it up to about 80% of your max. Do sets of 10 to get a good feel for it and then keep going up. Most people go to about 150% of their max or higher during overloads. Work on form and really driving those hips through.

Now if your problem is getting it off the ground, ther are no specialized lifts for that, you just need to lift more.

Oh, and dont sumo lift it either, you can lift more using a conventional stance.

Well, I'd say a mixture of Romanian deads(lighter weight), squats, and weighted back extention. Also, switch grips every so often.
