as i have gotten older(19 now)i have noticed that more and more i'm hearing/feeling cracking throughout my body, particulary my wrists and ankles. It has never bothered me until recntly. I dont know how long its been goin on but maybe 3-5 months now i noticed that when going up stairs my knee will sometimes give me pain to where i have to stop and the slow down, Its like i wanna collapse slightly but then i stop and then slow then go up and it goes away. Im worried. I just got this pain in my right wrist about 3 days ago. I notcied it when waking up. Now when i bend it all the way down as far as i can it hurts and still cracks. Hurts when i apply pressure , for ex: trying to get up from a desk using right hand and wrist as support. Pushups and what not.(my wrists and ankles will always cracked when stretched to the limits and just rolling them around) but, my wrist is scaring me because its not going away, and is it possible i injured it in my sleep? Cna this be related to my knees goin out? Are these early signs of arthritis? But im only 19 goin on 20, whats goin on anyone with any clue to what this is and whats going on and if they are realated?

Cracking joints are usually a result of a build up of small bubbles of nitrogen in the joints. It mostly occurs in the fingers, wrists, ankles, back, knees - any joint in the body that is cushioned by cartilage.
Cracking normally effects those who participate in heavy contact sports or coming to the end of their pubic development. It can be painful at first, but it will pass. As the lactic acid of the days activity wears off the nitrogen left behind is the by-product... Kinda like fermentation. Notice how there are people who constantly crack their knuckles as a habbit? (I'll admit, I'm one of them.) This is quite the same. That cracking noise the the nitrogen being pushed out of the joints and back into the blood stream. Dont worry, it's harmless. If anything it is quite healthy and has been known to reduce the effects of arthritus (sp?) in later life. Just dont do it too much. From the looks of things you are still getting used to your workouts. This could be a sign of overtraining. As for your back, look into something called Vertebral Subluxation. And see a Chiropractor. |

to be honest it feels like the bone or tendon or something is going out of place when fully extended. It like pops out kind when bent all the way down then it pops back in place. This is for both wrists. I can actually see the bone or whatever it may bee shift up and back into place. Like a piec to the puzzle is moving out then going back in. weird. every time it happens too

I'm eighteen, and I saw a doctor when I was 17 about my cracking joints. He said it was 'ligamentus laxity' , or just loose joints. He said it was actually completely harmless.
I crack everything... my fingers, my knees, my wrists, my ankles. I've stopped cracking my fingers for the most part, but i still crack my wrists, and I'm starting to get really bad about my ankles. I've woken up cracking them for the fourth time in a row this week and haven't been able to fall back asleep. I really need to find a way to stop or make them feel that I don't need to crack them. Any ideas? |
