If we are looking for serious explanations, I'll give this a shot.
It may have to do with the voluntary to involuntary contractions of your lower body holding in the gas. For instance, when you first feel the urge to rip one, you tense your sphincter muscle, gluteus, abdomen and more in a synergistic fashion. By doing so, you're increasing the readiness of your core muscles (which assist in most compound exercises). Sort of like taking a rubberband and pulling it out a bit and holding until it loses a bit of the elasticity. Then the next time you go to pull on it, you can quickly exceed the point your previously pulled it to without much effort at all.
Oh, and it probably also has something to do with your discombobulator being misaligned with the flux capacitor.
