Hi everyone, i am a newb and have a question. I am 19 years old, 6'1 tall at 155 lbs and want to know how to bulk up. I do deadlifts, squats and bench and it seems that my legs get bigger and faster than anything else. I try and eat more than 3 meals a day and workout 2X a week. is there a solution for a thicker upper body?

You want balanced meals - don't get too hung up with just protein & forget about the other macronutrients - they're just as important.
Make sure your meals are as unprocessed as possible with little or no saturated fats. A good meal would be something like: 1 Chicken breast / lean steak / fish 1 potato 1-2 cups of vegetables. You can use herbs etc to spice up your chicken - There is a thread around here on spicing chicken up somewhere. If you are trying to gain/bulk, don't worry about cutting carbs at night etc.... eat as much as possible as often as possible but make sure it is good nutritious food. Stay away from Thickburgers! |

I agree limit beef to two times a week. First off, this more likely has hormones or anti-biotics in it. Ur talking about cows, they are injected with hormones. Actually they are injected with up to 6 of them. That is why 40% of milk comes from a cow injected with this. Although studies have been limited, I would suggest if eating beef, don't fast food it or eat out. Get good meat from Hunting...lol, getting a butcher, or buying good beef. They have different beefs out there for that. I actually did a speech on this in college. Not beef, in particualar, but I found some weird stats. Check out food safety centers and sites. Some have really good sources. Far as the impact, if you have beef here and there probably no problems, but too often, maybe. It's hard to tell, and really everyone is different. Far as the lifting, I can't help ya there, I am a newbie on this site as well...........
