a little OT but i read about someone saying something about deadlifts should those only be performed every other week if im going HARD on the days i do deads ?

No it's fine to do it every week, at least until you stop making progress.

If you want do like I do and mix it up, I do reg deads week 1 rack pulls from just below the knees week 2 and do them off a box for longer range of motion week 3

when you do rack pulls do you put it at knee level, above, or below your knee?

PS while still offtopic any ways to get the shin scraping effect of normal deads? i have a few small scabs now from last thursdays dead day, they didnt bleed on thurs, but they were red and could see blood....

I set the rack up where the bar is just below my knee, even with the bottom to an inch or so below. If your rack doesn't have small enough adjustments stand ontop of 45 plates to make up the difference

If I pull sumo where the knurling of the bar is scraping my shins I have a set of soccer shin guard sleeves that I wear to keep from bleeding everywhere
