Depends on how sore. Its ok to work a muscle if you still have some soreness.

Being sore is not a proper indicator of muscle recovery or productivity.

what kind of soreness are you talking about? Are you talking muscle pain, as in an injury, or soreness from dominating a muscle? Don't worry about the supplements now, even if your friends are already taking them. All you need at your age is to eat...alot. Throw in a multi-vitamin, but thats it.

Protein powder should not effect you other then to increase the amount of protein available to supplement your diet and exercise goals. If you are trying to build muscle, whey protein is great. Though at your age, I would try to get 90% of your protein through food, not supplements.

I personally dont lift if i know the sorenesss will effect another muscle group i have the next day. So i just simply work out another group that woudlnt be effected Btw make sure ur getting ur glutamine and a large protein intake =[.

Glutamine is found in protein-rich foods like meat, fish, dairy.
