Default Soreness...

Hey guys...I just started seriously working out again and I am very sore the days after the work outs. Is it normal to be sore up to 5 days later? I want my routine to be 3 days on 1 day off and have that cycle rotate...

Day 1- Back, Biceps/Forearms, Shoulders, Cardio
Day 2- Chest, Triceps, Cardio
Day 3- Legs, Abs, Cardio

Hows it look?

Well, you work your shoulders on chest day, forearms on the chest day too. So I would put in another day between 1-2 for rest. Also by over working your mucsles like this I am not suprised your sore for 5 days after. BCAAs work good to aleviate soreness if you use them while you lift.

So get in another rest day man.

It also depends when you do your DLs, you might be working other muscles to constintly too. give evrey muscle 1 entire day inbetween working them, let them grow.

Hi, I am new to this sport. What are BCAAs? I have the same problem, soreness. Also have a torn rotator cuff in right shoulder so I have to be careful not to include that part of my body in lifting. The injury is inoperable, two doctors said. Another two docs say they want to operate. I am going with the first two because they are more experienced and knowledgeable.

Yes, that could work, but you might still be overworking yourself, so if your still sore, or you expereince overtraining take some more time off.

Cockydude, BCAA is Branched Chain Amino Acids, they help with recovery of muscles while they are being worked, for example when you do squats take 10-25grams in water during your training session to help reduce soreness or DOMS greatly, pretty much just helps you walk around the next day without problems. I dont think it can help out for rotator cuff problems though, sorry to hear of your problem, hope it heals fast, w/ out an operation.

Soreness is attained by doing somthing that you are not used to, lets say increasing reps/weight/volume of lifting, or even lifting the same volume in a shorter time spand. If your body is not used to it, youl likly to become sore. I get sore most of the time, a little anyways, I only get bad soreness when I dont have my BCAAs with me, or I have some other problems, with my nutrition that day, (not enough food) or just didnt sleep enough.
