I've been workin' out my arms and chest for a while now, and I've managed to max out my machine for bench pressing, and I've been progressing quite well with regards to my biceps, but I've been stuck on the same weight on my triceps for longer than I can remember!!!!!
It's like they don't want to grow! Which is proposterous, because THEY'LL GROW WHEN I TELL THEM TO GROW! But, really, they're just not growing at all. My triceps are stronger than they used to be (ie. when I first started workin' out), but I have been having trouble progressing to a higher weight. I'm doin' weights for my biceps that are over triple what I started doing but my triceps are, if anything, decreasing! So now I'm getting paranoid that they will shrivel up, and I'll start having trouble pushing the school bully of our tallest building. EDIT: By the way, I do Tricep Pressdowns as my main tricep exercise, as well as bench pressing! |

Even if Pressdowns SUCK, which I'm sure they do, I should still be progressing in that particular exercise! But I've not been able to stack on just ONE more plate and perform an adequate number of reps with good form.
My routine is: Day 1. Biceps ONLY Day 2. Triceps and Chest (All I do are pressdowns, bench presses, and that funny thing with the pec deck on my machine) Day 3. Rest Day 4. Rest Start all over again. I think I'll split my workouts further, with Biceps one day, Triceps the next (pressdowns and db overhead extensions, which are pretty fun), and then the last day my Chest workout. But I'm not sure if I should keep the two day rest period after that routine, or change it to one day rest. Trial and error, I suppose. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP |

.. I have bad knees. Very bad knees, that is. So I can't do any leg exercises.. at least, not any that will make a difference. And I know I'm gonna look like a poorly proportioned clown, but hey.. it might be interesting.. Not! more like humiliating!!!

Well, maybe I should invest in some of these fabled 'knee wraps'... Although they still probably won't prevent further damage to my knee joints.. I'm assuming they'll just cut down the pain. I'm not interested in reducing pain - weight lifting is all about pain! Or so is my understanding. I just don't want to have my knee caps bulging out of my leg by the time I'm 20.

That is a very general and wrong statement. No pain no gain was thrown out the window a looong time ago. The most important thing in the ACTUAL weight lifting is FORM. if the exercise youre doing is making your hurt......something's wrong. just thought I would clear that up. dont take it personal brother...but i hate to see very plain and easy to misunderstand comments about weight lifting like that. |
