Mulefootball, yes, the same thing happens to me. I weigh 150 and can put up 210 (I'm satisfied with that number and my progress), yet I don't appear huge or strong at all. And this other guy who probably weights 160 looks decenty bigger than me, but he's never been to the gym a day in his life and I'm guessing he probably couldn't even put up his body weight. It's annoying how everyone assumes he's stronger than me, like one time we were playing this group tug of war and we were on the same side and we won, and everyone assumed he was the reason we won. I'd just want people to give me some credit sometimes!
Anyway, I agree that doing a 1-rep max test using only 1-rep is bad because of safety reasons and because it's a lot harder to make a judgment call on how much weight you should use. |

bench press. speak of the devil, i just maxed out today before i take a week off and start a whole new bulk phase after cutting 50 pounds, when i was 270 i benched 370 today i weighed 220 and benched 370, which proves you can stay strong and lose wieght at the same time, yes i did lose some strength but it came back very fast when i started eating right! so eat eat eat! and not junk food crap!
