Hehe. I wouldnt take it the wrong way. I doubt anyone is "angry". People just dont like egotistical threads. Ill give ya the benefit of the doubt here and say you probably were just curious. So yeah its pretty good.

To tell u the truth, I give anyone respect who is trying hard to increase their boundaries and really reach their potential. There are different ways to lifting, the information is out there, yet ppl should feel free to weight lift the way they want. People who bitterly criticize certain workouts should realize that tho some may perceive their views as correct, it is still an opinion. I dont believe anyone should try to force their strategy on another since all physiques are different (to an extent). Keep lifting, and take other peoples advice, as advice and nothing more. Have a great lift bro.

for some reason my left pec is noticeably bigger than my right, but they are both the same strength. when i bench, one side doesant sag down under the weight and cant keep up with the other side. i thought muscle size is also muscle strength, so why is my bench even on both sides?

A good place to start is being able to max at least your body weight. If you can do 1.5 times your bodyweight or more, you are pretty strong.

your bench involves your pecs, shoulders, lats, legs....

your uneven pecs are not essential to the value of your lift.

Are you people saying that to have an effective workout we should be benching 1.5 to 2 time our body weight?
Or is it just for one rep?

who cares...I hate it when people throw out number people "should" be doing.

"respectable" is in the eye of the viewer. who gives a sh1t what others think about your bench, just keep progressing and lifting.

if you're having effective workouts, you should be progressing in weights as time passes, don't worry about how you do compared to others.

its all about being able to lift a little more each time and in perfect form. you dont want to end up lifting heavy by cheating because you could injure yourself.

Oh God no, that was just for a 1-2 rep max. Its all about personal goals anyways, sure its nice to know you can lift 20 pounds more than the guy next to you, but who cares...just worry about yourself.

I weigh 140, and can bench 210, so I can benchpress exactly 1.5x my own weight (1 rep maximum, 9% BF). I think that being able to do that is pretty good, but I'm sure some of the more developed kids can do more.

when you guys talk about your one rep max do you actually see how much you can possibly lift cos that can be dangerous
i read in a mag that if you take the max you can bench 10 reps for and then times it by 1.33 you have a rough estimate of your 1 rep max. probably not 100% accurate but definitely safer

safety first

Stop spreading misinformation...........if you know what the hell you are doing, it is fine. That is what spotters are for. In fact, WSB is built around max days. Are you going to say that the entire WSB routine is dangerous?

Hell, lifting in general has bit of danger to it........

i train alone so for me it is far safer to try and not do my one rep max, if you have a spotter fine but as i train at home i avoid doing my one rep max where i can

Fair enough, but don't neglect low rep work.

You can always set the safety bars on the bench or power rack......just as good as a spot.
