i dont know if you got powerballs over where u are, u can get them off ebay for about £20, little gyro things that work the hell out of your forearms. I used it for about 6 months and definately felt the difference. If not that then pick up light weight while u self-spar or shadow in front of a mirror.

yea i definately would say your shoulders, tris, lats, and chest are all involved. As everyone else said, technique has a lot to do with it. Having a strong core and legs, and using them properly, are extremely important.
Kind of like swinging a baseball bat, without your legs and form you have no power.

dont forget to throw in speed drills as well, you can have a strong punch but if its not fast it wont do much good.
and all the big players in the punching action i believe have been covered pec delt forearms lats tricep bicep and remember you draw your power from the ground up, so deffinitely train the legs including calves and your core muscles(abs obliques lower back) |

Bruce lee used a technique to hit harder.... When he was hit something he would aim for the back of it.... basically following through with your whole body.. Say your going to hit somebody in the Arm from the side.... Punch like your going to punch them in the ribs, your body follows through and does alot more the arm.... thats what i do when i scrap... knock somebody right the **** out!!!

absolutely 100% agree that lats are a big part of powerful upper body striking, lats and hips, its nothing to do with arms - strong lats, strong hips, and even stronger technique (check the form of mma legend vitor belfort) an pretty soon there wont be a punch bag heavy enough

I saw this science behind martial arts thing on TV a while back where they hooked all the martial artists up with elctrodes and such and then they created 3D renderings of them as they sparred. It was some cool stuff. But they were explaining a punch and how it gets it power. When you watched these guys throw a punch they showed how they drew 'power' from the ground and it went from the ground up your legs and into your uppper body as your rotate through. I used to do some martial arts and from what I remember of learning on my own if you aim through the target(like said above) and once you hit keep pushing forward you get a pretty solid hit. But lets not forget technique. Bruce Lee mastered this..ever hear of him doing "the one inch punch".

If you ever get into a fight, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to avoid one at all costs because a real Man will find any alternative if possible however when that is the only way to solve the problem you will always want to beat the other person well without any question - they MUST KNOW they have been beaten or at least you gave them one hell of a workout and you do not want them "thinking" they can ever "revisit" "this" again. |
