This is when i learnt my first bodybuilding term, "over training" lol...
Large body parts like the pecs, quads, glutes, lower back etc need at least 72 hours rest after training before hitting them again in the gym. It sounds like heresy after we have read the Arnold Encyclopedia, but the most important hurdle to leap is to stop over training your body.
People will argue that the recouperation and repair of muscle fibres in a teen is somewhat faster than their older counterparts, but i believe in the term 'start as you mean to go on'.

By training muscle groups just once a week, you will see that your poundages will go up as the muscles are fresh and not over trained, you will have more energy for workouts and you will not be living your youth 24/7 down the local gym.

***See the problem with only training each body part is that protein synthesis, prostaglandins, IGF, and mRN levels return back to normal around 36-48hrs. So all and all you basicly spend 2 days growing and the rest is just basicly balancing nitrogen levels in the body till you train again. You can reload a muscle as soon as 36hrs after training. I have about 26 pages of studies to support this view, but I cant post them for various reasons. (Being used in a book)

There is a little bit more to this then what I posted, but that is also the foundation behind the Fitness Fatigue Model. Training a bodypart only once per week is the Single Factor model.

This isnt a knock to lifters, but if your going to train a muscle or muscle group twice a wk you have to know how to organize your training and stress levels. You got to know how much to load and how much deloading you need among alot of other things. This is where using periodization either linear or conjugated (bloc or basic progression) is good.

There is alot of understanding things before you can effectivly train using a training routine like this using this model. Id bet once you understand the the method and bable to train it effectivly it will work and be far superior to what you where doing, but thats only if you know how to manage it properly.

The body does not adapt and create muscle because there is X amount of weight on a bar, the body adapts because of the repeated stress that is placed upon the muscle, forcing it to adapt to handle the new 'stress' in future.

** actually the X amount of weight would help because it means more stress. Without increase the load or changing afew other variables you wont increase the nessacary stress in order to adapt therefor you will stagnate over time. I see it to often with people not training with a heavy enough load or understanding how to apply stress effectivly.
The ** are my replies to what was posted in the first post on training.

Hey im 16 and i am a wrestler. Im about 6 foot and 145 lbs. This year i wanted to stay light and cut weight, which. was not bright, but its what wrestlers do. Now i want to bulk up and be at least 160 by next season, about 9 months from now and am not planning to cut next season. But i wanted to know, if i take creatine, will i loose endurance by gaining weight even with regular cardio excersises? I read on this site that that is a possible side effect. I dont know if anyone here wrestles but i want to gain strength as well as mass and still keep if not improve the endurance i have now. Also, what is ur view on taking protein and creatine at the same time? Should i take more of one than another? and are there any physical side effects such as stretch marks or anything like that? Thank you for your help! (sorry if this is a bit confusing i tried to squeeze alot in a little)

First of all, with more muscle on your body the more oxygen your body is going to need. so, yes you may lose some endurance, but you can counter that with being in really good shape. And taking creatine will not make you sluggish, it should increase your endurance. Definetly take more protein than creatin, atleast 1 to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight. eat alot, of healthy food, not crap.

Someone make this a seperate post

Thanx alot for that, but what kind of creatine do u suggest? I heard that the power tabs and gum absorb MUCH better than the powder you mix with water. I also found recently that grapefruit juice dramatically increases the potency of drugs, does the same go for creatine? Also about how much creatine do you think i should be using and when should i take it before, after and durring my workout? If anyone also knows any good places where i can find a great workout plan please tell me! thanx alot!

Creatine, there are a lot of different types out there. But for wrestling i suggest you take something like SAN v12 or Swole. anything other than powder is a waste of money. Take a loading phase of creatine for one week at 20g/day. Then take 5-10g/day for the next three weeks, then 4 weeks off. Personally i see best results when i take creatin before and after workout. Also try MAX OT, its great workout plan form any type of bodybuilder/athlete/whatever.

this is a bit late but Great Info. man!
I wish someone would have told me all those things when I first started lifting at about 16. I swore lifting six days a week would get me huge.
I had to find out that I was wrong over a long period of time.

All teens should follow these tips

Believe Me
