Anyone else who wants to copy something off a website and paste pro/anti stuff on here of someone's voting record to prove a point, maybe you should first consider actually LOOKING at the bill as a whole for several reasons.
1 - you might want to find out how many Congressman/Senators actually voted for/against something before you single out one person on their vote ... good chance your candidate is right in the mix with the same vote 2 - there are these little things called earmarks that Congress loves to add to bills that often times cause a bill to sink or float - so a final vote often times is not because of the merit of the bill, but because of the earmarks (and/or amendments) attached to it ... so saying he voted "for" or "against" one thing isn't the full picture ... that would be like saying "Chris Benoit died" ... yes, he did - but is that really a fair statement to make considering what happened? 3 - 3/4 of what you posted - do you even know what any of that does or how it affects you or the taxes you'll end up paying out?!! If it's just something you think "doesn't sound good," do your research and don't just talk out of your ass .......... Out of the candidates out there right now - R or D - Fred Thompson has the lowest negatives and highest positives ... That's not a biased opinion, that's facts. In other words, he has what a good percent of the public thinks it will take to make a good president. He also has something that few - if any - of the other candidates have and that's a true understanding of the philosophy and role of government. There are plenty of things that the gov't should keep their hands out of - not put their hands further into .... |

I need to read up more on this man, but from what's been said to this point I think there is at least one clear consensus:
We need a positive, strong change in the government of this country. I don't think it's about liberals and conservatives anymore. There's so much crap getting out of control and can be laid at the feet of legislators nationwide. The people aren't happy...I think it's 30-something percent job approval rating for THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT (not just Bush), if I remember that stat correctly? I do know it's an all-time low. Washington DC needs a housecleaning and YESTERDAY. Off to read up on this guy...

I recall another political thread that was closed for some unknown reason. If this thread lives I will reopen the other one when I find it.
One more thing. Just a friendly reminder. Since this is in the Serious Topics and Discussions forum. I personally will NOT tolerate any flamming or thread hijacking. Just remember to keep the discussion's intelligent and mature. Thanks.

Go ahead waste your votes on Republicans. There is no chance in hell that ANY republican will win the White House. You guys had your chance and ****ed up the country, now us intelligent people have to try to clean up your mess, but that's nothing new.

Nite, I am watching, with interest, to see if Thompson will run. It will be interesting to say the least. The only problem I have is that he was a lawyer
"It depends on what your definition of "IS" is." (Pres. Bill Clinton Esq.) I just don't trust lawyers since I have seen too many shady things happen in court. That being said Thompson does stand by his votes. He does what he says (at least he appears to). Frankly I think it will be hard for any Republican candidate to win the next election.

The Dems certainly have succeeded ... at accomplishing nothing they set out to. In fact, the Democrat-controlled Congress only rivals HMO's for the lowest approval rating for societal institutions. Yeah ... I'd say that's just awful for Republican's chances or retaining the White House ... Last edited by iknowboyd; 06-29-2007 at 01:10 PM. |
