Lightbulb College Plans?

To start of with I am in my senior year of high school and trying to figure out what to do for college. Its been hard deciding what I want to major in because my mind changes so much. I know for a fact that I do NOT want to sit infront of a desk for the next 40-50 years of my life. lol I was wondering what could I major in involving nutrition, lifting, conditioning, anything that is physical activites and has to do with bodybuilding or such? It would be something I like and can get up in the morning and be happy with what I'm doing.

Some ideas were nutriotinist, dietitians(but those could be me sitting at a desk),physical trainer, personal trainer(heard it's hard to make a living off that job),condition coach for a sports team.

So what are your thoughts? Any other ideas you got for me?

Thanks.

I went the same route when i was your age 10 years ago. I was always very good in chemistry and biology and loved sports. Thought I'd go for athletic training. Come to find out theres no money to be made unless you work for a college or even better a pro team. Physical therapy didn't interest me. So i just took science classes. 5 years later I had a career counselor give me an aptitude test to see what I'd be good at. Come to find out Nursing ranked pretty high. I was skeptical at first with it being a predominately chick job. But more guys are in the field now, there is so much you can do with the degree. You can travel all over the country making crazy money as a travel nurse. I can leave my job today, and have a new one tomorrow in Hawaii if I wanted. Its not a trainer job, but it gives me the benefit of having to know the anatomy/physiology, muscles, diet, etc. But I wish you the best of luck in what you decide. Find something you're passionate about.

Yea thanks for the info man sounds like your enjoying your job. Have fun in Hawaii if you decide to do that. haha.

What I think i'm leaning towards is a personal trainer. I know it's risky and many have to work two jobs just to keep a steady life. But then I'd though I could be a personal trainer and try to make books, programs, etc and sell them. Who knows maybe i'll hit big. May sound kind of gay but fitness model is something I would love to do and or like advertise for companies wether it be supps or w/e.

kinesiology might be the major for you. explore with it and see exactly what you want to be studying (training, nutrition, medicine)

What kind of classes are you good at? What do u like to do besides physical activities? Look for something beside your hobbies for now as u can always have a fun life with a so-so job + a kick ass hobby. You don't have to use ur hobby as a job. Every job or everything that's worth doing is going to be hard; so don't be discourage if it's something that aren't as easy. There are tons of jobs out there, anything is possible. I figure that you're not in college yet, so you have alot of time. Just take any class that interests u, and see what u like to do. Don't be afraid to change majors and switch courses. Don't stick to what you don't like even if u spent a lot of time on it already. But also don't quit if it gets difficult. Life is confusing, isn't it?

Well I've seen that thread. I know he's loaded. But I thought he meant if he was just a personal trainer alone, it'd be harsh.

If you're good, it isn't harsh, but few separate themselves from those average joe trainers at the local Gold's. You aren't going to retire young working for someone at a commercial gym - there's just too much of a ceiling.

Simply put, your income in fitness is only limited by your imagination and motivation.

Exercise science covers all the bases you mentioned.
