I need some advice from other people who are married with kids. When ever I get home from work I find myself being really bored. I have a few hobbies, I surf, play tennis, play guitar, learning Japanese but some of these are hobbies I only do on the weekend. I get home around 1700 sit and watch 15 minutes of tv, eat dinner, sit and watch a little tv with my family and then play guitar for about a half hour and study japanese for about an hour. So I have about 3 hours of free time before bed and they are a really boring 3 hours.
Everyone in my family understands Japanese except for me. So they have certain Japanese tv shows they watch and I can sit and watch for a little while but because I dont understand so much I get really bored. What do most of you do once you get home to use your time? |

I work out mornings before work. I've been thinking of changing it to after work but that would take time away from my family. My family and I all eat together also. My kids are 10, 12, 13 my daughters(12, 13) are the oldest and they are mostly interested in their friends we will joke around a little each day but they mostly like doing their own thing. My son(10) really like wrestling so we will play around for a while, but once it comes on TV he likes to watch it.
They dont need any help being put to bed I just make sure they all brush their teeth and then give them all a hug and kiss good night. My wife and I will sit and watch some TV or go out for coffee once the kids are in bed. I dont know maybe I can take up knitting and make a bunch of sweaters |

Take the TVs out of your house. Im not married but here is the kids perspective(im 17). Me and my dad watch no tv except news and some weekend movies and we watch these together. My mom watches tv all night and i maybe say 20 words to her a night. My dad is my gym partner my shrink my mechanic and my friend(may cause a chuckle from some but i dont care). You said your son likes wrestling so yall build a small ring in the backyard and practice out there everynight(ggood cardio) instead of taking japanese lessons have your saughters teach you this may seem weird but it will build your relationship. i go to the gym, run, cook, ride motorcycles, work on cars and tons of other stuff with my dad and we have a great relationship.no where in there is nightly tv! Im 17 and i will maybe watch 1 hour of tv a month. Everynight during your sons TV time go for a family walk instead.
So get more involved with your family or even friend to tame the boredom.

my thoughts exactly..
I have no xtra time to get bored. I am always on the go, go, go... I have enough time to train. I wish I had more time for my daughter or myself. Then again, whenever I try to relax, I get bored. I always have to be busy

The kids keep us hopping. Once they are in bed we will chill and watch some TV together for maybe 30 minutes or an hour, then it's bedtime. You need a hobby that you and the wifey can do together, otherwise you take a chance of losing interest in each other. Maybe something the whole family does together, although with teens/pre-teens that can be hard. As parents we are the ultimate in uncoolness.
