Just thought that I would start a topic on cenorship, since I can't stand it. Censorship and I have never agreed. What really gets me about censorship for example is that a group of people working for MMPA, can decided whether or not a movie is "too graphic to be released". I hate that sh*t. They have right to tell me what I can watch. They make a big deal because they say there is "too much violence" Who cares. If you don't like violence, then don't see it plain and simple, but don't tell me what I can't watch or listen too.

I disagree that censorship is necessary,it is completely up to the parents to determine what is right for their children. People like Marilyn Manson should not be banned because of his beliefs. If you don't want your children listening to artist like Manson, then start at a early age and introduce them to music that you prefer them to listen. But don't ruin concerts with Manson for me. That happened one year, up here in Anchorage, AK Manson came up here and it was so chaotic, churches were trying to ban him from performing. Eventually the concert did not happen. Again this is not right; I don't care if people think Manson worships the devil, its his life. Its my life, I will listen to whatever music I want to period, no one in this world tells what to listen or what to watch. Even when I was a teenager. I listened to what I wanted and watched what I wanted. I understand that censorship is put in place for a reason and those reasons are good. But just because an individual watches lots of horror movies does not mean that they will commit those acts they see. That is a total copout and I believe that by saying we need to increase censorship is a way to avoid the issue of poor parenting. Let's blame someone else and then say because of poor censorship, my child is exposed to this "filth".

I might step on some toes here but I'm going to go on a rant anyway. Cencorship is for people who don't know how to control themselves or raise their children correctly. The real world isn't cencored so you might as well learn to deal with it. It's a bunch of b.s. that something viewed on t.v. or listened to on the radio or read in a magazine is the cause for someone being an idiot. Cencorship is like treating the sysmptoms of a cold. It's much more effective to actually treat the illness, which in this case is a society that doesn't deal with it's own issues very openly and effectively. If you want to stop crime fix the economy. Covering someone's private area with a black smudge isn't going to stop anyone from commiting sexual assault or stop teen pregnancy.

Censorship goes a lot further than videos or music. It stretches across to the news televised, the amount of details given in your daily paper, books published, disease threats, war situations, and some other stuff I cant think of. Is it necessary? Yes, to an extent. Its nothing new that television leaves a lasting impression on its viewers. And so, the government must be cautious as to what its regulations are. I can imagine if the populous of the world knew everything about everything, there would be mass panic--which is exactly what the government doesn't want. It sucks that our whole lives we're all lied to. It's crazy how many federal cover-ups happen each year that no one knows about. But I guess it's necessary to keep the 'peace'.
