I agree. I go above and beyond my job performance expectations, but also keep a balance between work and family. I work remotely from home often and when there are big projects where I end up having to work over, I am not in the office...I wait until the kids go to bed to complete the extra work hours.
I just think there is an older mentality that you aren't a good employee and you can't get ahead in life unless you are in the office working 14 hour shifts. One can get ahead without burning themselves out and putting work first for everything in life. I love where I work...I can't even begin to describe what a great place it is. There are moments when I am having to work those 14 hr shifts, but also moments when there is a lot of down time.
