This is along my way of thinking.

There are a heap of links on that page that refer to similar articles and hard scientific proof against the theory.

Have you done any reading on it or do you just 'hear about it now & then' from people in high places?

depends on the level of "believe" .. when i heard the theory, it makes sense to me.. therefore i think it's possible .. hence i say i believe it.. i dont sit on the internet or in person fight for it.. nor argue about it.. to be honest, i dont care much about it, so i wont spend the time to research for it.. i wont go out of my way to ruin the environment, and in my standards, thats enough saving the environment.
