THE WORLD'S TEN LARGEST ARMIES

1. China - 1,700,000
2. India - 1,200,000
3. North Korea - 900,000
4. South Korea - 560,000
5. Pakistan - 520,000
6. United States - 475,000
7. Iraq - 360,000 - Pre-2003, of course.
8. Myanmar - 325,000
9. Russia - 320,000
10. Iran - 320,000

The Canadian Forces has an authorized strength of 60,000, with fewer than
20,000 in the army. The biggies, including China, North and South Korea, and Iran all have conscription.

THE WORLD'S LARGEST AIR FORCES - BY NUMBER OF COMBAT AIRCRAFT

1. Russia - 3,996
2. China - 3,520
3. United States - 2,598
4. India - 774
5. Taiwan - 598
6. North Korea - 593
7. Egypt - 583
8. France - 531
9. Ukraine - 521
10. South Korea - 488

Canada has 80 operational CF-18 Hornets

THE WORLD'S LARGEST NAVIES - BY PERSONNEL

1. United States - 369,800
2. China - 230,000
3. Russia - 171,500
4. Taiwan - 68,000
5. France - 62,600
6. South Korea - 60,000
7. India - 53,000
8. Turkey - 51,000
9. Indonesia - 47,000
10. North Korea - 46,000

Canada has approximately 4,000 sea-going personnel, considerably fewer than the crew of an American Nimitz Class aircraft carrier.

The moral of this story? Don't fcuk with Canada, we are so deadly we don't need a large army, navy or air force!

Canada uses Leopard 1, not Leopard 2, so they don't even have a modern battletank.
In the Balkans, a potential opponent for CF Leopards was the M-84 (a Russian T-72 license-built for the Yugoslav Army). At least as fast and well protected as a Leopard C1, the M-84’s main armament (a smooth-bore 125mm semi-automatic cannon) seriously out-gunned the Canadian tank. One trial conversion replaced the C1’s standard L7A3 with a Royal Ordnance IWS 105mm main armament. But plans to convert all C1s were eventually abandoned. Another promising candidate is Rheinmetall’s new smooth-bore 105mm gun. Rheinmetall now proposes up-gunning the MGS with the new design since CF Leopards are to be mothballed and Canada will be out of the tank business

The only modern armor they have http://www.newscientist.com/article....ine-news_rss20
beware the Canadian skier!

Fuse...I wasnt turing all patritotic and blind to the US. I know we have issues. I wasnt pretending we are perfect or are superior to anyone. All I said was that there is still slavery going on in the world. Thats the only topic i addressed. I dont know how you got all of that other crap you said out of my post, I just made a comment about slavery. So calm down, and dont jump to conclusions. Ya, i am from the states, but I know we have alot of issues, all countries have alot of issues, chill.

American didnt start WW2. I believe germany started WW2, not Japan or America. Japan madet he first attack on the US.

Iraq is the exception. However they have saddam a choice, he chose the wrong one.

Numbers dont mean anything. Look at the number of US troops in iraq compared to iraqi army in 1991.

Technology always win's over numbers.

I agree...even if you don't believe in God...Jesus had some universally good teachings that if followed (even in a completely non-religious way) would help alot of people get along better....of course the same thing can be said about many religious figures...

This is what happens to Taiwan if China decides to ivade:

Do you realise how hard it is to invade an island? Are you aware that china needs a **** load amphibious boats the made a landing. At this time they have 49 (2000) and werent planning on building more and were not planning on building bigger troop carrier boats. Further MOST of these were ex US WW2 boats.. in which i think were made out of wood.(?)

So unless they're going to all come on helicopters and dodge all taiwans surface to air missiles, they will not be an attack on taiwan.

I read a report where China could attack Taiwan, cripple their airforce and navy but never actually manage to pull off the invasion due to lack of transports. A stalemate would result or China could pummel the cities with missiles till Taiwan surrendered. They had no chance of winning by ground invasion, exactly due to lack of sea transport.

I do get searched up and down in airports, everyone does, deal with it. I would rather have to take of my shoes and belt than blown the f*** up on the plane.

And I probably would have to wait in an immigration line if I flew to other countries all the time.

Where are you from that is so great? If the U.S. is so bad then why are you still willing to wait so long to get in?

Think about that next time you wanna piss and moan about someone elses country

its probably right, they dont have the numbers for an invasion.

They've got an airforce, but so does taiwan-- plus taiwan has the america NZ AUS and the JAPs to back them up.

China wouldnt be so stupid, since they have massive exports and imports deals with Australia.

I'm suprise Iran wasen't in that poll.Did you guys forgot that not only they have nuclear ambitions, but the president said Isreal should be wiped off the map?Of course Iran is not match against the mighty USA , but China may be on Iran's side and that would be a different story.

China has the largest army in the world. They have increased their military spending by a lot, they will be scary in a few years. But right now, i don't think they can rival with the USA.You add Europe on their side and you have the deadliest alliance possible.Technology is what wins a war and China is still behind , especially in the aircraft department (you guys have any idea of what's going on at area 51?).

The USA could have erased Irak in one day if they wanted, but they didn't because they tried to minimise colateral damage as much as possible.Iran better behave, they should learn from it's neirbough. The USA has aircraft that would make those cave monkeys think they are UFO's.lol

If China was to mass build landing craft, dont you think that the west would get a sniff about it and put 2 and 2 together?
China would get burned a bit by attacking Taiwan but dont totally rule it out, China certainly hasnt, they've even threatened military force if Taiwan didnt surrender power over to them

1) If a bomb does go off, guess who put the taleban in power? guess who gave them all those weapons? That's right, the americans did, because your govt. didn't wanna face the russians head on

2) have you ever been in the tourist line at the US? it's THE slowest, bar none, and trust me, i travel, ALOT.

3) The only reason I'm in the US is to avoid the draft in my country, nothing else.

Besides, what I've stated about the US's past wars is nothing but truth, go check encarta or some history text's. If the shoe fits, wear it, don't blame me if what I've said is true.

america wanted to halt the spread of communism and russia absorbing another eastern block country. With cold war tensions still in the memory, nobody is going to face eachother head on. Why fight an enemy when you can get somebody else to do it for you...

yes but its called security... a few people screaming "ALLAH!!!!" ruined it for everybody. Please forward your complaints to Al-Qaeda.com
America has a right to protect its population. Boo hoo, we all wait in line, some have the intelligence to figure out why we are waiting.

your a draft dodger? very patriotic, this puts you in the "gutless" catagory. I think this overides you making any statement or comment about america protecting its own security when you turn your back on your own country and wimp out.

why not educate us all and provide links? its easy to say "go google it" but when i post info on a controversial subject, i at least try and help the argument by supplying sources.

I'm sure that justifies Vietnam 100% doesn't it?

If you're that patriotic to you're country, by all means go and sign up for the army. I'm not stopping you, with my screwed up knees, asthma and bad vision, that qualifies as what we call PES C, or a desk job for 2 years, fun.

Vietnam:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Tonkin_Incident

I have to point out that prior to the full scale escalation of the Vietnam War, the US was in full support of the French colonization of Vietname. Seems a little hypocritical doesn't it? And even after the French left, they instated a puppet capitalist Roman-Catholic government, even though a majority of the population was buddhist, This too was supported by the US i believe (though i might be wrong on that).

Mexico:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_War

"Mere days before Polk intended to make his request to Congress, he received word that Mex
