Locking Threads

I am usually a pretty quiet person but this one just got under my skin.

Just because someone’s topics on a GENERAL CHAT section of a bodybuilding forum are geared to one topic is no reason to lock the thread and give a public warning with the threat of banning them. If someone chooses not to read that topic DONT open it and read it.

I agree that this guy is a bit annoying, but he has the right to his opinions and his right to start these topics.

I don’t recall threats of locking and banning a certain unnamed person when all his topics were about bashing George Bush and Americans, even though there were many complaints

I find this highly unfair.

i am having complaints from members, i too am getting annoyed at this.

if you want to see gay threads, go to a gay forum, easy as...

He can very well state what he wants in a relevant thread. The problem is that there are now 6 or 7 threads on the same topic. It's annoying as hell.

Here is the problem, he starts on one thread, and when that thread begins to die because no one wants to read it, he brings up another on the same topic. He has been warned, probably more than once. Yet he continues to do it. There is a solution, ban the troll.

members potential/new or veteran judge a forum by the people posting and the threads being posted.

its not just gay threads, its about mastrubation and cock size...

grow the f*ck up already and post it somewhere else.

I agree the gay threads are out of control and the guy is annoying

Just thought it was very unfair the way it was done.

Lock a thread becasue it is being discussed elseware; the thread is dead or off topic, but not because you dont like the topic at hand.

well, then it doesnt seem like it would be much of a problem, i dont see him discussing matters with himself, i actually see other members discussing as well... i could see if nobody replied to his threads and he just kept bumping them up, but that is CLEARLY NOT the case....

It never ceases to amase me how many people read a thread called, "i hate bush", open it, get in the discussion and then complain about the thread... i could understand if threads were mis-labeled, "best tasting protein", and then its nothing but pics of face shots and pearl necklaces....

i put these people in the same catagory as this guy>>>>

The only reasons someone posted in the topic that got closed was to make fun of the guy, which if i remeber is against the rules anyway, so it should have been locked.

if i was to post multiple threads on any one subject it would grate on every member.

members are leaving this board for these reasons:

mutliple gay threads
immaturity of members
lack of proper bodybuilding posts with any context to them

i would like these members to come back but thats not going to happen while these threads are kicking about

Threads in this section are just getting ridiculous. No, there is no problem whatsoever discussion issues about gays and whatnot. The main problem here is that people are not discussing in a mature and adult manner. Posts are having to be edited because of hateful and derogatory comments. And some are getting so that they aren't even productive anymore because people are just arguing and name calling and such.

Talk about whatever you want to talk about, but keep it mature. It was stated at the beginning of the serious topics forum that childishness and crap posts will not be tolerated. And sadly, after a post that was brought to my attention yesterday by another member, that's all I've noticed in the last few threads in that section.

This section of the forum will be monitored more closely now because of the complaints all of us mods have been getting. So if anyone wishes to engage in a discussion here, follow the TOS and keep all rude comments to yourself. They are not productive and they are not needed.

Thats the problem. The dump was not created for people to be offensive (name calling, blatant flaming, etc). It was created for people to let off steam and joke around with one another without worry of cluttering the other parts of the forum and to discuss topics not suitable for other areas of the board. But too many people turned it into an area many, many seasoned BB4U'ers have complained about for a while.

Talk about whatever you want in there, joke around with your friends on this board, have fun. But do it all within reason. A lot of the threads in there have just gone beyond insane.

We hd to ask permission to join the dump. perhaps the solution is to take away that priviledge when called upon.

Yes I know. And some of us mods even brought that up with Jim - taking away the priviledge when needed. I think he did it to a few members, but I'm not quite sure.

But even so, people went haywire when things were done to keep this place running smoothly, whether it was in the dump or not. There were "mod nazi" threads popping up and just really stupid stuff like that going on. Complete immaturity and disreguard for this forum as a whole.

I posted some very relevant and accurate information to a thread/discussion that was of a scientific nature. Shame to see that deleted while other posts that don't contribute anything realistic are retained. Did it not agree with a mod's position on the subject?

Unfortunately I have no idea what thread you're referring to. Mods are not supposed to delete anything based on their own personal views, so I doubt it was anything like that. But I do know Jim is going to spend some time here and there "cleaning house". I know he deleted some stuff today so is it possible that your information was in one of those threads? If so, it has nothing to do with what you said. The deletion is/was done based on the thread as a whole and by the complaints received about it. So please, don't take it personally. Things are changing around here so just sit tight and keep on being a productive forum member.
