If you are a business owner, whether it be a small business or whatnot....and Walmart moved in and ultimately shut your business down. And then there goes all of these little mom and pop shops that people worked their entire lives for.
That would suck.
I totally agree that it would suck, I am not saying it does not have an impact on many people. The same thing happened to the mom and pop small grocery stores once grocery chains? Even large gas stations now have groceries. It is just the nature of business, there is always competition and people should adjust their career based on it. Those are are hurt by walmart are much less than those who benefit from them.

Touche' Fadi. One thing we tend to forget is there will always be competition no matter what you do. So preparation is the only way to sort of offset the shock.

HaHa...I guess, then you just go to another town, open up a bigger shop, and shut the little one down that was there already.
It's a vicious cycle.

I actually go grocery shopping at the gas station (Sheetz) sometimes, lol... and eat there quite frequiently!! Oh yea, and get gas there too....

WalMart kicks ass!!!! They are more effiencent than these other companies! True, it would suck to be a business that closes down because walmart came to town, but thats tuff luck.

I think we should all go back to using pagers and get rid of our cellphones because many businesses that sold pagers are now out of business....thats sooooo unfair!! (obvisously using sarcasm, for some of you).. Actually, even some of those companies changed, like motorola, they now sell cellphones.. shape up or ship out!!!

With "some" americans being upset about companies like walmart coming out and being more efficeint, thus shutting down compaines that arent, we wont remain a superpower much longer....

Actually Wal-Mart owns Sam's Club. I don't know if they have them everywhere but they are the same thing. Come to think of it, my area at least had Sam's Clubs before Costcos. Most of the big companies now are super-conglomerates

In that case, go to Walmart, --not the mom and pop shop next door to it-- and go get yourself one, if you don't have a camera, Walmart could hook you up with that too.
Oh...btw, if you don't think your back is muscular enough, Walmart sells workout equipment too. Then you'll be all set for you picture.

Is there a need to ever leave Walmart?

No, but I'm sure they have plenty of videos and books from personal trainers...."trainer to the stars" and all that kind of crap.
Hell...you can even get your fitness magazines there.
Then get your mp3 players for workout music, your toiletries for when you're done working out...and your workout clothing there as well...

OK...I'm taking this one a little too far...I know.
TrainedMind, just go get yourself a damn rubberband and take the freakin picture will ya? (Walmart sells rubberbands too...haha)

I guess you're right Jen.

Hey! how come you know so much about what they sell at WalMart? You're one of those closet WalMart shoppers aren't ya?

Back to subject at hand, Bob I never meant any ill feelings towards your thoughts in this matter. Viewing WalMart as evil simply because of their business tactics is not acceptable. Which is fine. All in all it balances out.

Walmart pays as little as they can, force their suppliers to do business their way or they won't do business with them, and take many shortcuts to cut costs that affects employees and suppliers. They get lots of heat for that and get sued all the time

The upside, they pass the savings on to the consumers and they are pretty much in every city and most towns in the states. They sell everything from groceries, appliances, clothing, gas...etc.

You could easily replace Microsoft for Walmart here. Of course MS doesn't sell groceries, appliance, etc.

It's true, I am a "higher than thou art asshole", your a good judge of character fadi!

It is the gayest analogy ever! But remember the movie, you've got mail?? I know you watched it, don't be too macho to say you didn't! Haha! But its all about the big bad company eating up the little local companies. And no, most small towns have no target.

I was never laid off cuz of walmart, i'm also biased b/c i hate walmart because it is hillbilly and scary. But i think the American economy sucks right now, and i am starting to notice things like this that possibly contribute.

No, some are ghetto, it all depends on where you live. If you live outside of Detroit like me, then it is ghetto instead of hillbilly. And it's not like the hillbillies werent there before the WalMart. They don't just move around like a caravan following new walmart openings lol.

What are you too 'good' to shop with people who have less teeth than you so can save $0.39 on cereal

I know I'm not
