My girlfriend is currently depending on it... it's all the money she has to put food and clothes on her kids. Don't assume for a second that just because some people, or even alot of people are useless drug addicts and alchoholics, that everyone is.

Sweetthing doesn't drink, and she doesn't smoke drugs or cigerettes... She barely gets buy in public housing, she lives a simple life. No car, rides the bus... food is the basics.. no prime rib roasts and shrimp here.

She made the mistake of getting involved with the wrong man a long time ago, she had 2 kids.. she was then abused and left the basterd... instantly becoming a single mom... with 2 kids to raise. No one to baby sit, so she had no choice to, and if you ask me it's the right choice to stay home and raise your kids.... later she applied for a student loan and got college educated... but the job market sucks ass here unfortunately.. when she met me she was able to get work at night, when I could look after the kids, but the pay is low.. and the work has been sporadic.

We tried a few baby sitters... but it actually cost more for the baby sitter then she was making.. although there is some money reinbursed..... it still wasn't cost effective, when you consider I had to drive them accross town 4 times a day.

The point is she is a very hard working and sober responsible mother, that depends on that money to put food in thier bellies and clothes on thier back.. for real.. no joke.. no friggin lies. You can't blame her, that some people abuse the system, fraud the goverment for money, and then spend the execess on drugs. That's not her. So again F U to anyone that would take that away from her.

She is looking for a fulltime day job, It's only a matter of time now... and we'll be moving in together, and splitting the bills. (I split the bills with my brother at another appartment at the moment, cause I couldn't afford to officially move in with her, as he rent would sky rocket to 800 a month for a shiet hole). she pays her bills I pay mine for the time being.

I just can't explain how frustrating that there is people that actually believe that sort of shiet... how do you think she must feel? What do you think people would do in her situation if it was taken away? Do you want her start groveling at the food shelter? You want to take away peoples dignity? Perhaps you want them to just hang themselves?

Damn it... stuff like this pisses me off.

I agree with everything my poobs said he is right!!! You know it pisses me off when some people or whoever judged everyone that receives baby bonus just cause of some irresponsible parent. Sure those ppl that do abuse the system should get cut off... but why punish the good ones like myself. It does tick me off when i see parents do that spend it on things other than there children. You know how much I hate being in the situation I'm in....if only you guys knew.

Sure you guys might say oh if she really wanted to she can get out of it .. well it ain't that easy. Not everyone can handle my son as far as child care...!!! Plus i can't just move anywhere in the city.. I have to watch which locations I go to as I don't want to be near the kids father.

I am a responsible mother that will do anything for her kids .. they are number 1 to me.... my ex is one of those ppl that abuse the system to party all the time.. which totally pisses me off cause i get no support from him and there is nothing the government can do about it.

Whatever I get, goes on my kids and my house. Lots of money also goes towards there school activities...etc... some parents don't even care about sending money at school for their kids...

So don't even think about putting down all parents that get the money ( baby bonus) or child care...

Now as far as child care... we have to pay it first and then we get reimbursed later.. there is such a thing as receipts... otherwise you don't get sh*t.

Or you get subsidised and they pay the daycare directly.

Baby bonus is useless for a lot of children.

No offence eh? I grew up with a Mom who received baby bonus. I didn't see one red dime of that money (as little as it was) go towards my needs. It would be hard to determine this for sure but knowing how I grew up where she put a lot of her needs first and foremost (smoking, going out, etc) I suspect it didn't go towards its intended purpose.

And, while I'm at it.. can I say F U to YOU for taking this personal. Take a pill. No one is taking shots at anyone in this thread. No one is saying we shoulf ditch the baby bonus program. No one is saying those who are on assistance are drunks, druggies, etc.

I wasn't speaking at you directly anyway.. I was shouting out to everybody that feels that way... What happened to you, and what happens to other people out there doesn't change the fact that some people really depend on it for more then just a pack of smoke or a chunk of crack yo.

I was just trying to make my feelings clear that It really does bother me to hear that sort of talk, specially when I have first hand experience with someone that suffers the negative stereo type because of how others treat the system.

Very interesting and insightful thread....We are often unaware of these situations living in the US. Apparently Canada has it's share of social problems as well.....

While I was in Cuba, the only English station that came in was CNN. I couldn`t get through 5 minutes. All they talked about was how grateful the Iraqis are that the Americans came over blew the shYt out of their country, and that they should be showering them with rose petals. you know I don't live that far away from Toronto. And from what i heard on the news about what's going on there I wouldn't dare go there unless I had too or to visit my aunt.

I'm not saying that everywhere in Toronto is bad... but mainly the downtown area is the worst. And the area my aunt lives in is pretty bad...you can't show up on that street unless you are known, if you do your asking for trouble. So this is why my aunt told me when you come down to visit me call me cause I have to be meet you and all...her car is constantly being vandalized,,,,,etc.

But I still it find a very nice city. But much more risky to go visit. But then again it can be like that anywhere you go.

That`s what I don`t get about Toronto. Montreal has areas like that. I think most cities do. But at least in Montreal the thugs running the streets are in a way protecting the streets. You don`t need to worry about some punks vandalizing your stuff. there`s no way disrespect for your neighborhood will be tolerated. Mind you there`s always the drugs and stuff but......

You certainly don`t go around talking shyt about certain areas of the city `cause you just might end up being overheard by someone from that area, then your knees may be in casts.

Not voting for Martin, he is corrupt. If he gets re-elected, it just proves how retarded my country is.
Not voting for Layton, he is a communist. Surprizingly, he gets 20% of the votes.
Not voting for the french guy, he is french. Enough said.

That leaves Harper, the environmental extremist party, or one of the hundreds of abortion/pot parties. The obvious choise is Harper. He will reduce GST by 2% and ban gay marriage. Sounds good to me!

I dont vote.. and I never will. Why should I... most parties are just breaking promises..saying anything to get voted in...not for me.
