I reccomend that this thread be locked b/c now we are bickering about whose politcal party is more "moral" than the other and that has nothing to do with this discussion. It's well-known by now that an overwhelming majority of the Republican party in power pandered to the religious right, raising a fit about abortion and gay marriage, knowing the outside-world-fearing-Bible-thumpers of the US would not care about actual issues that might actually have an effect on their lives, for votes.

Does this make the Republican party at large . . . religious bigots?

Of course not. It makes them politicians.

Politicians do not care about voters. That doesn't make them bigoted toward whatever group they choose to exploit.

I was not trying to make the argument that the NAACP is racist, though I believe they are. Your earlier post was suggesting that belonging to the NAACP somehow grants a person, white or black, immunity to charges of racism (which is obviously not true).

Your perception of my statement regarding the NAACP is incorrect. I do not feel that belonging to the NAACP (or any other organization, for that matter) makes a person a specific thing, or grants a person specific points of view. Your belief about the NAACP is also incorrect. So far, you've presented a skewed view of racism, as well, littered with very bias you claim to despise. Yes.

But first, you have to admit that what the Bush administration has done to get votes from minorities is ALSO racism of the same form you accuse Democrats of.

Is it racism only when Democrats do it, dino, or when Republicans do it, too? How about conservatives in general? Are you willing to not be biased what you consider racism?

I stand by my argument that manipulation does not equal racism. It equals politics. If it were racism, whoever is doing it would have to deliberately believe that the people they were manipulating are ignorant.

Sorry. I don't see the party that everyone accues of not having balls doing something ballsy like manipulating people for votes, like the Republicans have done. So sue me.

i personally think that insurance agencies to be able to base their rates on race, ONLY since they can base it on age, sex, etc, whicha...... sounds fair to me... if you see an OBVIOUS trend from different races, you SHOULD be able to make decisions on the information....

Its sad in a way, but I can't even move to another country to be as well off as you.

Let me ask you something luke. do u know that when the president makes a decision to go to war he has to get the consent of congress? probably you dont know that but he does. that means congress has to approve his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush did just that. look up and see how many liberal democrats voted for the war. i can tell you that 29 democrat Senators voted to authorize the president to go to war. Congress voted 296-133 to authorize. there are 211 democrats in Congress so do the math that means AT LEAST 78 voted to go to war.

All politicians suck ass....Now I know why I didn't vote in the last two elections....won't vote either until someone half way decent runs.
