I agree with you bro. There is a lot of reverse racism going on in the past few years where minorities call the race card at the drop of a hat just so they can ease out of owning up to responsibility.

For example, the "Summer of the Gun" that just happened in Toronto - it's ridiculous that they blame all the violence on poverty and the Whites. You're poor, yet you've got enough money to afford drugs and guns eh? Don't give me that poverty BS. You blame unemployment - heck, who would want to hire someone who dresses like Fiddy Cent? I mean why would I hire someone who may possibly be the cause of a shoot-out at my place of employment? Dress decent and I'll hire you.

Since I'm in Canada, I'll only speak from the Canadian perspective. There's really no excuse for minorities to be *****ing and complaining much here because minorities are actually granted more privelidges than whites. Forget being equal - minorities are actually put on a pedestal so to speak, yet instead of appreciating the hospitality, benefits and privelidges they receive, they're constantly blaming their problems and problems in their communities on everyone else but themselves.

It's ok to be black and proud, be indian and proud, be asian and proud - yet if someone is white and proud, they are automatically labelled a racist by minorities - even if they are the furthest thing from a racist.

For the record, I'm all for White Pride - as long as it does not involve the hating of other races. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage as long as you're not harming/defaming/hating those who have different heritages than yourself. It's the same way I'm for Black Pride, Asian Pride, Gay Pride, whatever pride. Be proud of whatever the hell you want to be proud of as long as you're not stepping on others or have that supremacist mentality.

The things that really piss me off are those minorities trying to change the founding culture of the country. Those of different faiths pretty much forced the municipal government to change the Christmas Tree that is at Toronto's City Hall to be called a "Holiday Tree" instead. Ok, you may not beleive in Christ or the Christian faith, but to go and have a Country that was made independant with the primary faith during the time being Christian change a part of it's own heritage to suit a minority's need is absurd and an abuse of privelidges in my opinion.

Oh then the whole "Happy Holidays" approach that stores/banks/companies are taking from the traditional "Merry Christmas".. December is the Christmas season and December 24th and 25th are CHRISTMAS eve and CHRISTMAS day, not Holiday-eve and Holiday-day. Heck, I personally am not Christian, yet I respect the days for what they're actually meant for and don't try to change their definitions because my faith doesn't coincide with it! Such stupidity...

One thing I'm happy of is the rejection of the Sharia Law (Islamic Law) that they wanted to make legal in Ontario to settle disputes within the Muslim community. Along with the rejection of the Sharia Law, the premier also abolished existing arbitrationary laws that belonged to the Jewish and another group (can't remember). If you're in a Country - you should abide by THEIR LAWS and not have a special law made just for you.

What should people dress like aikurushii? With normal clothes, like silertabs and polos, or slacks and a nice shirt, not a big FUBU (For us By us, who is the us there?) shirts and jeans or sweat pants that are 10 sizes too big with massive patches on them and no belt so that we can see your ass and nasty boxers or mesh shorts you are wearing. The way one dresses or presents themselves to the rest of the world, us the way they'll be initially judged and looked upon. Unfortunately, this is a sad reality that we judge books by their covers - however the 'gangsta' types have only brought it upon themselves.

Sure you can call it hip-hop culture or whatever, but why would you want to copy the dress sense that originated from malnourished criminals anyways (the origin of the 'under-the-ass-baggy-pants' style)?

Sure you can be a really great person, god-fearing, neighbour-loving, 10-commandments following, but then you decide to dress like 50 Cent and complain that every cop and every other person outside your 'culture' look down upon you as a criminal and automatically label you one.

Hey, if you're gonna dress like a person or celebrity that claims they're 'gangsta' and then complain that people disrespect you and think you're a criminal - I don't care if you're black or white or indian - you're an idiot, plain and simple.

Why not have decent role models like Bill Cosby for example, or other more 'humanitarian' celebrities? I've got a lot of Black friends who find the whole 'gangsta-wear' thing pretty silly too - so it's not just everyone besides the blacks who think that style is pretty pathetic.

Another example is the muslim dressing trend since 9/11. If you've noticed, a lot of muslims have started dressing in their 'muslim-wear' more and more since 9/11 - which to me, seems more like a hostile act than anything else. It's normal human nature - someone starts pointing their fingers to a group of peoples and they all 'come together' in defiance. I find that behaviour a step backwards however as it causes more hostility between the muslims and the everyone else as like the example with the 'gangstas', the muslims wearing their traditional robes are looked at with a different view than a muslim wearing casual or semi-formal clothes.

If you're going to dress negatively, you're going to draw negative attention. It's a simple concept.

Myself being defined as a visible minority (anything other than Caucasian) as well as growing up surrounded by minority, I totally see the problems with minorities and why a lot of 'westerners' aren't too content with them. I've grown up in Scarborough with the muslims, blacks, asians, whites (who are now an extreme minority there!) until the Tamil gangs came in and started their violent gangwars. I then moved to Markham and it's been peaceful here for the most part.

It deeply saddens me that in a Country where all are accepted and are given an opportunity to start over - people are raping the resources (through undeserving/un-needed welfare, social services, benefits) and on top of that are *****ing that they are being treated second class.

Anywho..that's enough of my rant for now.. all I can end with is that I pray that people and communities of all races/heritages can start growing the balls to actually own up to their downfalls and take the proper measures with their bad apples instead of blaming the problem on everyone else. It's an amazingly simple concept, really. artyman:

Ok, here is an ignorant question, I know the physical reasons for skin colors, muscular build, etc. Ie. Asians eyes. But why is it that some cultures have accents? I mean, even here in the states, the accent someone has in CT is totally different than Boston. Why is that? What is it in Boston that makes people speak differently?

Good question. I have no idea. It's very strange though. There are several differet dialects of the English language in the US. Southern, New England, East Coast, West Coast, Mid-West, Northern Mid-West. And within those regions you have even more diversity.

I know I missed some too.
