you know bottom line the minorities of this country have it way easier than us poor american's:

Blacks can call themselves african americans and get money for college
Indians are native americans and still get about $20k when they turn 18 for the problems that christopher columbus started
Spanish immigrants are getting the jobs that lazy americans dont want to do, and my girlfriend for example is half mexican and got to go to college practically free!
Asians get all the same types of perks as well!

The US is a great place to live if you are a minority!

I go to college, and have to pay for it out of loans and out of pocket! I will be paying those loans back for the next 15 years!

Minority with same GPA and score on SAT's get to get money from grants, and scholorships for being a minority, and even the college will give them a tuition break! Stop saying its hard to be a minority in this country! Those of you that are, I am happy for you, you get a better way of life than me, and will probably make more money than me too! Its sad in a way, but I can't even move to another country to be as well off as you.

Bump, this is obvious at any college or university across the nation. I recently graduated from a university and there was a "black sit in" on the steps of the admin building b/c they didn't think enough black students were in the school and more should be there so THEY WEREN'T THE MINORITY. The average was around 15% and they wanted 20~25% of students to be black. They didnt give a flying **** that only 6% of students were asain, 3% were muslim, and about 3% combined made up the rest of the minorities on campus.

Of the issues, the biggest one was that there was not enough scholarships for blacks only, this caused a huge upheval across campus b/c of the fact that all the black students had scholarships that were either associated with black only organizations or they got them through special stipulations set up by the school. The next issue that just about caused a riot on the campus was the fact that they wanted admission standards lowered so that black students could get in easier, notice I said black students not minorities.

I'm all up for standing for your rights and if you are being held back because of race, sexual preference, sex, age, or disability. But this was not called for, for some reason they couldn't understand that most back students chose to go to the historically black university 45 miles away instead of my school.

As for using derogitory terms towards minorities, some people fall into classes, there are a lot of people who are considered "white trash" then you just have "white people", there are these terms for every race and they will always be used. Most of the older generation is dying out and a majority of the old hatred is going away, I forsee in the next 20 years that things are going to have to change drastically as more and more "minorities" move into the country and white folk start becoming the minority.

Yeah and when white students try to establish a caucasian college fund, they make the evening news for 2 weeks straight...all whopping $5000 that they managed to collect for it.

oh.. sorry but you are wrong.. Asians (that live here legally) have it more difficult than other immigrants of this country.. They can file for gov't-support, etc.. but when they encountered a problem with their papers (visa, citizenship, etc) and the INS found out they filed for support, they're considered a burden to the country and get deported(or denied citizenship, etc) easier than the one who didn't file.. That's why a lot of asians don't ask for gov't support..
Most asians pay for college for their own pocket too.

Better jobs? It's harder to enter jobs when they expect the other race better than you.. My uncle, an engr., for example, they weren't gonna take him until he said he built that airplane engine from scratch. It's not that they're racist but they want their race to take the spot.

If you lived in a racist-free country most of your life then moved to a (I guess) semi-racist country, you'll experience/notice every little thing most people ignore.. It's even hard to get your transcript if you're my race, lol.. My friends said they can get the transcript the day they asked for it but not me.. I had to wait 2 days then come back to school.

rasicsm is a whole different story....and I absolutely HATE and despise people that are racist....but I just wanted to try and make a point about how the US is trying to make it more of a level playing field...i think minorities have the same exact opportunities that I do....thats all....

They were chosen because of their GPA and that was it. A lot of people get chosen because of this, and don forget that NAACP is cracking down on businesses, especially in the construction world, b/c they dont have enough black people working for them.

Essentially all they are saying is "Cant find a job? Not skilled enough to get a job? Claim you are being denied b/c you are black and we'll bully the owner to hire you."

As for the transcripts, it takes a week for me to get mine, it doesn't matter what race you are.

u know the reason why you were denied.. the GPA.. Ofcourse they're gonna get people who are more qualified.. but sometimes even if the minority is more qualified they're gonna pick the other race..

not in my school. You can get the photo copy of your transcript(not sealed) that same day if you just ask them.

I know this, I am just saying that they did not choose based on race. Most companies now do not, at least not the reputable ones. Companies are going to pick the best man for the job, not hire some unqualified kid b/c he happens to be the same race as the interviewer.

It's like telling a white guy to not act/dress white (if there's something like it)... What do you want them to dress like? Is there a standard way of dressing? Standard way of talking? Standard accent? Or standard way of acting?
