the FACT remains, as always, there is no solid proof of heaven, hell, or god......it is all faith, if he chooses not to have faith then let him deal with it, dont try to push religion on anyone

Jetty isn't pushing his religion on anyone. He posted in the 'serious topics' and you can choose to answer or not as you see fit.
Some of the BB4U members enjoy the dialog a conversation like Jetty's can kick up, if it bother's you. Don't open the thread ... and I'm saying this with respect for you and others and not as a slam. Just a reminder: Keep it civil and remember the TOS rules, posted in the first two threads of this section.

hawkwind- i enjoy talking about religion, as well as many other subjects that can go either way, but from reading his post i assumed that those five questions were directed at the person who posted the lyrics in the first place, which seemed to be trying to persuade that person one way or another......my apologies if im wrong

Since Jetty posted here in the 'serious section' I felt he was addressing anyone in general with his thoughts and the questions that came to his mind. But I do know from past experience that dialog about religion can cause tempers to heat. Just wanted to remind everyone to be civil. It's my 'mom' nature showing up again. Once a mom always a mom.

1. Do you have any kind of spiritual belief? Yes
2.To you, who is Jesus? Some guy who was nailed to a cross 2000 years ago 3. Do you think there is a heaven or hell? No 4. If you fell over and died, where would you go? If heaven, why would God let you in? I would go into a tomb 5. If what you were believing was not true, would you want to know? Yes |

Sweet-pea,
You put into words most of my feelings about 'church' people. I got tired of the hypocrites. I got tired of the ones that didn't like my jeans. I got tired of the men that complained because I was the 'spiritual head' of my household by default. (I'm married to a non-believer...he let me raise the kids the way I wanted.) I would rather quietly live out my beliefs than to talk about them. And I'm not perfect. I'm as apt to swear in church as I am to swear in public. And let me tell you...I do! At one time I was a woman's prayer leader, a bible study leader, a youth group leader, and a Sunday school teacher. I was trained through Campus Crusades Family Life Ministries and through the United Methodist Church for my positions in the church. I also spent a couple years as a spiritual warfare prayer warrior, that was a tough one. (Those that believe in the gifts of the spirit will understand why to some extent.) While the great majority my peers where raising up their holy hands and talking the talk. I was taking in unwanted teens and a homeless friend and feeding the children of another friend. Driving another friend to the family aid agencies...going to AA meeting with another one...bringing another to see a crisis counselor...homeschooling another friends kid right along side mine... I still do all I can to walk the walk. I don't often tell anyone where I stand in my beliefs. You should be able to tell by how I live. Not by how I talk. At this point in my life I'll be honest and say this: My faith was shaken to its core a couple years ago. I haven't recovered and I'm not quite sure where I stand compared to where I used to stand. But I still believe in God... ...the Son of God... ...Heaven and hell...because demons are a reality to me, after having spent years as a spiritual warfare prayer warrior I can't ignore what I've seen and experienced first hand. (I was also involved in the occult before I became a Christian...don't ask about it, I won't answer. I've only been open to dialog about that time in my life with a couple people here on the board and in my life.) Will I go to heaven? If I do I'll have some explaining to do at this point in my life. Ironic that my favorite subject is endtimes eschatology and I love the book of Revelations. I've studied it over and over. Still can't get enough of it when I sit down to read it. Would I want to know if I was wrong in my beliefs? Not sure. Like I said Demons are a reality to me...part of the reason I believe in God is because in my mind you can't have one without the other. Gotta take the good with the bad if you want to make it simple.

1. Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
Yes 2.To you, who is Jesus? God's son who died for our sins. 3. Do you think there is a heaven or hell? Yes 4. If you fell over and died, where would you go? If heaven, why would God let you in? I have no idea. I would never think that I am going to heaven people that live their life and "know" they are going to heaven are incorrect and considered self-righteous, which is a sin in the eyes of our Lord. I have no idea if I will go to heaven or hell. I only hope it is heaven. 5. If what you were believing was not true, would you want to know? Yes or no... I dunno, that's a tough one. I might be like that guy on the Matrix who wished he had never taken the pill and lived in ignorant bliss. I would hate to think somewhere I am connected to a feeding tube in a pod somewhere.

I really dont know anymore...
With so many differant ideas going around its hard to be convinced of either side, atleast for me. No Religion: -Evolution -The fact that the Romans, Greeks, Vikings, Egyptians, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, etc all have/had their own Gods, its hard to say that yours is any differant (the true one), and not made up like those were; unless you believe they exist aswell... thats your belief. -You could say that if religion was all made up, then it was to keep people in order. Laws may stop people from commiting crimes to an extent, but threating them with eternal damnation will have a much more powerful effect. Also, the idea that there is a greater power than us and that we all have a purpose may give some people the hope to carry on when they otherwise wouldnt. (In other words, people created the idea of a God to keep the world in order). Religion: -The unexplainable things that COULD be coincidence, but just seems too much like a miracle. ^From a psychological standpoint, this could easily be explained as just something in your brain, not nessisarily reality. ie- You pray to overcome sadness from a death, and then you overcome it. How do you know if God helped you overcome it, or your faith tricked your brain into overcoming it because you believed God was helping you. *If you look at people and their religion, its almost always some form of what they were raised (born Catholic, stayed Catholic). So is that what they really believe, or what they were brainwashed into believeing their whole lines. |

I agree that there are many pitfalls within organized religion. When you're sick you go to the hospital -- for many, spiritually speaking, this is the church. Unfortunately too many of them either forget that they too were once ill, or, they continue to do whatever they feel because the have "the cure" and are safe. Either way the hypocrisy can be difficult to get past.
I appreciate the responses offered here. I hope to see more. I am not going to push my personal beliefs on anyone. I have posted answers to these questions from the Bible for anyone who cares to read it. I understand that many do not believe in the Bible or what it says. That's fine. No, like the saying goes ignorance is bliss. |

I really doubt god is gunna judge us because we did something wrong or dont belive in jesus. People judge, not god. OUr minds judge other people but if you are the one there is no need. The one means he is one with the present or things that are present. If he is present then what happend 10 minutes ago didnt even happen. So its all good. Why is it that we have different religions. IS one regilon better than the other i seriously doubt that. Is muhuhmand better than jesus. I doubt that. I was a christian when i was a kid and now i found something that is the whole truth not belives or thoughts but reality. I know most people here wont know what the F;UCk i just said but thats ok
The church unfortunly is full of hiprocrites and bad people, its amazing. |
