Yeah so I been working out for about 2 years now and I love it. Im 18 years old and I weigh about 145 pounds and I'm 510. I might want to do powerlifting whenever I get older. What would be a decent weight to start at if i wanted to do it. My goal so far is to have a 300 bench and weight 135 when im 19.

u wanna lose 10 lbs and and add 95 lbs to ur bench? u wanna weight 135 lbs and bench 300? unless ur a genetic FREAKKKKKKKKKKKKKK which u prolly arent, its not happening...powerlifters are big dudes. ADD weight, dont lose it.

I'm with Will100 on this one. Why in hell do you want to be a 135 pounds powerlifter. Sounds like an Oxymoron to me. 135 at 5'10" is skinny as hell bro. Get some mass and then lift this 300 pounds bench. Also powerlifter is more then just bench number...

Good luck in your quest if you continue this way but I don't see it happening.

well its hard for me to gain body weight. i eat pretty good now. about 4-5 meals a day usually and 2 whey shakes per day. me and my friends were talking about powerlifting tho and they said i could probly get 300 in a year or so if i keep at it. ill have to bust my ass though. i am really skinny too lol. the only thing i really have thats big is pecs and traps and biceps but my arms are skinny as ****. dont even get me started on my legs. ive probly only gained about 15 pounds in 2 years and my bench has doubled and squats have doubled lol. i wanna do this without roids tho lol.

there are plenty of lifting competitions where there are weight classes. do what you gotta do, 300 is a big number for 150 though. Absolutely doable IMO, itll take some serious time though.

well i wanna be able to do a heavy weight and be skinny because when i first started going down during 3rd block to work out people were like look at this skinny **** and tried to talk crap etc but then they would see what i can lift and be impressed and stuff. mostly its just for bragging rights with my friends since they usually give me the most crap about being skinny lol. plus the sport involves something i love doing lol

Wow, I can't lift twice my own weight. I don't think such a small frame could support that kind of lifting. I think the more you lift, the more you'll want to gain size. Especially since everyone else will tower over you. I've never seen a twink powerlifter before. LOL.

Good luck! I'm almost certain you'll have a change of heart. Seeing your own growth can become addictive and seductive. Trust me. You'll start to touch yourself.

what is the point in trying to unrack 300 pounds if you know for a fact you are no where near pressing it? ditch the ego or you will never come close to your goals.

you would be TINY if you were 135. There is no way you could lose 10 lbs and add 95lbs to yor bench in a years time. Even if you gained 60lbs i still dont think you could gain 95lbs on bench in a year...i think you need to eat more, ALOT MORE!

All the lightweight powerlifters are little guys, much shorter than 5'10. At 5'10 you're going to have to be bigger to have a chance. Bump to meals up to 6-7 a day and you'll start to gain weight. I was right where you are a 3 years ago. My first year I workout out with my friends and didn't really eat properly. I went from 135 to around 145. I started eating better and I'm up to 180 now, after losing some weight because of school and exams.

No, there are sevral weight classes. Some of the best power index poeple I know weigh 130 and bench 250+.

Size doens't make you a powerlifter.

I know one who is 5'9 actually.

it's how much you lift now what you weigh.

However, doing 300 and weighing 135 is kind of lofty, i'd sugest you aim 270. more than 2x body weight is tough. Or, gain up to 150 and bench 300.

yea we have this thing called index in our weight training class too. me and my friends try to compete with it and i got the highest one in the school right now. but it goes with 10 time maxes on some chart crap so its not perfectly straight like a 1 time max.
