Made some pretty good improvements myself over the course of a year after my pinched nerve.

started back then at about 20-25lbs DBs for about 10 reps, now: 90x2.
Squat-115x8, Now, 275x4
BB Row, 60x10, now, 140x7

LOL, on a side note, I get BB Press 205x2, But DB Press I get 90x2... I only gain 25lbs by using a barbell, isnt that a bit strange?

Default Smith or Power Rack???

That's true...I really don't know the name of it. I do believe I've heard it referred to as a Smith machine...but I see guys doing squats on it as well...wait, I think I know the difference now. The Smith machine is the one that has the hooks and resistance, right? Pardon the ignorance. That's the one I sometimes do bench on. Wondering if I'm actually doing more harm than good using that.

If you havent got a spotter than its maybe for the best, however you could use a Power rack and set the pins low incase you fail.

Ok, I see now. The funny thing is that I thought I knew my stuff. LOL. NOT! Thanks for the advice. I will definitely start using that power rack for my squats...

But am I at a disadvantage when using the Smith machine for my bench, as far as developing strength?

As with all weight training its best to use Free weights, smith machines are just that machines and not free weights, thats not saying that you wont gain anything from using a smith though as you will. Choice is yours!

No harm meant, it was more of a prompt to go search google or something.

Spanky you can see there's quite a bit of debate about the use of the smith machine in another section of the forum that started recently as well.

Nice going, be very careful as low rep work should only be done with a spotter or in a powercage, or buy a couple of spotter racks like me.

I hit 310 on bench and 405 deadlift recently, but a partially torn ligament in my wrist has hindered my heavy lifting lately.

I'm taking a month off of upper body, so maybe I can get my poor squat up there.

465 lb squat back in 10th grade, im around the same now after knee damage then getting them back up to par.

deadlift most recently was 405, prbly can do more

last time i maxed on bench was last summer, and i did 305. im at 315 rite now, got back up there after my 50-60 lb weight loss.

so im pretty much back up to the strength i was at when i was 280lbs, but im at 220, so a significant increase in strength and loss in fat. not 2 bad.

I hope to bench 350, squat 500 and deadlift 450 by next january

Finally was able to get a 90x3 DB military press last night.

Was feeling great and went for 95's and I think I could have done it but my left arm gave out on me when I tried to get them off my lap.....

Always next week.

Thats still good bro. It was the attempt that mattered. Keep up the good work and those 95's will be a thing of the past.
