Default Powerjim, help me out man

I need some good exercises that will help me with the Conans Wheel, and Tire Flip.

Any special, unique exercises, or are we talking about the basic deads & squats?

Zercher squats would be a huge help, other than that just your basic deads like you said however theres no real Substitute to the real deal. Savvy chime in if you know anything more.

Conans - Zercher squats and front squats!

Tire Flip - Squats, Incline Press, Shoulder Press, Deadlift, Dumbbell Rows, Barbell Rows basically Tire Flip works the whole body, working on your explosiveness would help alot to.

thanks guys. Today is "leg" day and I was going to add the zerchers. I'm an old man, the explosiveness is a little slower.

Our local gym is having a strongman comp. on 9/23. I'm entering to give those younger/bigger guys some challenge.

"Squats, Incline Press, Shoulder Press, Deadlift, Dumbbell Rows, Barbell Rows"..these are already a part of my routine..great, I'll have to start picking up the intensity a little more.

Good luck to you.

You shouldn't have to much trouble if I remember you from some photos you posted a while back, if thats the case remember to flip the tire not to throw the tire.

Just give it all you got, the worst that could happen is you follow through in the middle of the event

i use a big thick tubing from work to put over the bar for zercher work, you cant just use the bar, it will cause too much pain and damage

also just work your biceps, cheat curls with negs an heavy dumbbell work, static holds etc

i have fliped tires before, but i cant bring them home, otherwise i would use them all the time, but the basic movement is a powerclean, so hit your powercleans an deads + strengthen your wrists and fingers - plate wrist curl is great for that

I have added power cleans to my workout (about 2 wks ago). I have been trying to improve my grip, but yes, I do need to focus a little on the wrist.

Thanks guys, you've been a great help. Love this new section.

Back from my workout, and my thighs are like jello, great workout. I worked my way up to a few sets of 225 zerchers, at about 8 reps each..felt pretty good.. that was after regular squats.

Nice going, maybe wrap the bar with a towel or something cos they really hurt like hell dont they?
